Good step to remove ad-aware. AVG is also known to cause blue screen crashes on some systems, so I would not be surprised if that does need to be removed at some point in the future. Do not worry about it yet unless you already removed it. If you do remove it at some point, use the AVG Remover and replace the software with Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows to run with Windows firewall.

thanks for the tip on the official avg remover. using the uninstaller left so many links splayed across my computer, i dont know what i would have done without an official uninstaller.

Over the last 24 hours I was able to get into my computer through restore, then remove the smartdefrag/avg/ad-aware , ensure that only the most essential services i use startup through msconfig options, and then update my computer's security via MSE and windows update.

Now i have just completed creating a manual restore point going forward.

shall monitor the BSODs going forward.

Good idea to create a restore point. Let us know if you need any further help or you need us to analyze a set of crash files.
