Computer crashes to a black/colored screen with buzzing noise loop

So I play Dota 2 and started play COD MW3. Occasionally my dota 2 will crash with a black screen with a buzzing sound on loop. The only way to get out of this is to hard shut down (power button for 5 seconds). This happens very rarely, I would say maybe once every 5 games (about 1 time for every 5 hours of play). I started playing COD MW 3 and the game is unplayable. Every 1-2 min after joining a game the same crash happens, although sometimes the screen is a different color; sometimes green, light blue, etc. It is always accompanied by that buzzing noise though. This isn't a typical BSOD.

System Specs:

MSI 890FXA-GD65
EVGA SuperClocked GeForce GTX 570 HD 1280MB

500GB WD 7200RPM HD
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Hardware is about a year old except the hard drive which is about 2 years old. SpeedFan shows that my drive is still in good shape after doing a S.M.A.R.T. scan. The OS isn't to old, maybe 4 or 5 months old since doing a fresh install.

No DMP files in the upload. Please try this method

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Tried what you said and I changed the settings you told me to but I still dont have anything in terms of a minidump folder in my windows directory.

Edit: I created the folder C:\Windows\Minidump and then played my game and crashed. Nothing shows up in the folder.

There are several reasons that may prevent you from having a DMP file in the usual places.

If you control panel is not configured for small dump you probably will then find it in C:\windows and it will be called MEMORY.dmp. It will overwrite every crash.

Other reasons are if you have UAC turned off, if you have a small page file, or a page file on a different HD than the OS.

8191 MB total pageing file size for all drives. Page wouldnt be located on any other drive. I re-enabled UAC and still no dump files are being generated. I also looked in my C:\Windows folder and I don't see any file with that extension.

Edit: My windows error reporting service was set to manual. I set it to automatic and am going to try and create a minidump now.

If the crash occurs before the error reporting service loads it cant be logged. Does it happen within the first 2 mins of booting?

No it only happens when I'm playing one of my games. Windows environment works fine, along with web browsing, Office etc. And after enabling windows error reporting still no dump file.

Dumb question but I have to ask, have you checked the developers site for an update?

All the games are managed through steam so it auto updates. But I get the same crashes in two different games, seems unlikely that I would get the same issue in two different games.

Ok so I swapped out my GTX 570 HD for a ATI 5770. This was after I tested my RAM with Memtest which passed after 3 passes each. It's odd but my GPU may the issue. Even though I can play things like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim and Team Fortress 2 on full blast with no issues. It just seems odd that the GPU won't cooperate with these few games. I have the latest drivers from NVIDIA, but this crash has been happening for the past 4-5 versions of their drivers.

Before I RMA my GTX 570 HD, is it possible that this GPU is just bad, or does it have something to do with drivers? I have reformated in the past few months and it crashed the same way, before and after formating.
