Windows freezes before logon screen, even in safe mode

    Windows freezes before logon screen, even in safe mode


    Upon booting the machine it just shows the background and the mouse cursor. Tried it in safe mode and i get the same issue. I also tried startup repair same issue. Machine came pre installed with 7.

    Use the Advanced Boot Options to select Last Known Good Configuration (advanced) and report back whether it helps.

    Advanced Boot Options -> Repair Your Computer -> System Recovery Options -> System Restore -> System Restore OPTION TWO

    i have similar situation


    My laptop does that too. If i press f8 to go into safe mode it freezes up. Then I try shutting down my laptop while in windows. It brought up the safe mode but when i hit enter it freezes up. What could cause this, how would i resolve this? If anybody knows please let me know.

    xboxhaxorz, are you able to move the mouse once Windows starts with the cursor and black screen?

    williamsage please start your own thread as I am not sure your problem is related at this time. You are welcome to continue following this thread as well, but you should try to get dedicated help from the experts on here.

    it actually shows the wallpaper, and yes i can move the cursor

    I am wondering if you have a virus. Try scanning for viruses with the and which do not require Windows to run. You will have to put them on either a CD/DVD or USB and run them by making sure your CD/DVD drive or USB drive is set to boot first through the BIOS.
