Netbook freezes frequently, mostly when watching videos.

Hi,

I have a asus netbook with a windows 7 starter OS. It frequently freezes ( no response at all, Ctrl+Alt+Del does nothing.) Not many BSODs but I have included the information for a BSOD post anyway.

I usually force it to restart by holding down the power button. It happens mostly when I am watching some video, whether online or on vlc.

- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?
32
Is the original installed OS on the system?
Yes
- an OEM or full retail version?
OEM
- What is the age of system (hardware)?
about a year and 3 months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)
I haven't re-installed the OS.

Thanks for any help you can give me! My co-workers think that I am having all these problems because it is Windows 7 starter, but I am hesitant about upgrading.

The only 3 uploaded DMP files were from months ago. If you have any more please upload them.

Sorry, I don't have anymore dmp files and I wouldn't know where to find them. The dmp files I uploaded came from running the Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.exe that is listed in the BSOD posting instructions.

There are several reasons why they arent being created but with the most recent one there being 6 weeks old we cant tell what the current state of the machine is.

There are several reasons that may prevent you from having a DMP file in the usual places.

If you control panel is not configured for small dump you probably will then find it in C:\windows and it will be called MEMORY.dmp. It will overwrite every crash.

Other reasons are if you have UAC turned off, if you have a small page file, or a page file on a different HD than the OS.

I found the file... but it hasn't been updated since January

Checked, UAC is on.

The page file is 1451 MB. Is that an appropriate size? I don't know how to tell where it is located. I only have one HD, it is partitioned though.

I am also using a SDHC card for ready boost, would that affect the page file?

Good guide for page file ie 1.5 times ram.

Readyboost wont help (IMHO) if you have more than 1 gig of ram.
