OK upon googling why a dump file might not be created, some have said that it might be due to page file not being set properly. Went into those settings and things looked fine, however I chose to let windows manage the page file and placed on my c drive and on another drive, so i have 2 page files now. I rebooted the pc to make sure it all took effect. I then flicked the mouse off and back on again and theres the BSOD again. THis time i took a snapshot of the BSOD in case the dump file wasnt created (surprise, it wasnt) so i could study it.

The BSOD referenced this EtronXHCI.sys file and found it is the USB 3.0 controller on my motherboard (Asrock Extreme4 Gen3). Apparently Etron is horrible at making drivers. See ASRock and Etron USB 3.0 BSOD - How bad is it really?

many people with my mobo are having these BSOD's related to the Etron thing. I downloaded the newest drivers from the Asrock site and I am still getting BSOD's.

My problem now is finding if I can get a different controller for the USB 3.0 port I am using and ditch this Etron junk.

And I would till love to know if anyone here could help me sort out why I am not getting any dump files created.

There are several reasons that may prevent you from having a DMP file in the usual places.

If you control panel is not configured for small dump you probably will then find it in C:\windows and it will be called MEMORY.dmp. It will overwrite every crash.

Other reasons are if you have UAC turned off, if you have a small page file, or a page file on a different HD than the OS.

ah i know I do have UAC turned off. Well I will try that out then. I think there's no need to continue on with this since I know what the problem is (Etron controllers), I am not turning my attention over to the Asrock support forums. THanks for the help here.

I've been having BSODs about every other day for a couple of weeks. Bluescreen View usually cites ntoskrnl.exe as the driver cause. This most recent BSOD has Bluescreen View citing afd.sys as the driver cause with ntoskrnl.exe+7cc40 as the driver address. This is the same address mentioned in...
