BSODS : BAD_POOL_HEADER and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

This is directly related to USB

I let my computer sit overnight while it was on. My g700 was plugged in via USB but I flipped the switch off on the bottom fo the mouse. When i woke up, I turned the switch on and a second or so later, i get a BSOD with the error of BAD_POOL_HEADER. The system reboots, and I can move the mouse however no mouse clicks will register. I unplug the USB cord from the mouse. i hear the USB unplug sound and then plug the cord back in and get an immediate BSOD again, this time with the error of SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. PC reboots again and this time all is well.

i have also had a few instances when i would unplug the USB cable and plug in the dongle to go wireless and that would cause a BSOD also, though i don't have the error codes for those. There is NOTHING else plugged into any other USB ports. issues concerning the Logitech g700 mouse.

Its not USB I am afraid. All three crashes were related to your video driver/Directx. BUT these three crashes were from Sept thru nov. 2011, so we have no idea what the current state of the machine is.

Just a thought.
Check to see that this has been done.


To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

OK done, it was set to kernel mem dump but everything else was set as you asked. I will do some fiddling with the USB now and I will probably encounter a crash and post back soon.

Then we await the most recent DMP's.

I flicked the switch off on the mouse, heard the USB unplug sound, turned it back on, attempted to move the mouse and instant BSOD.

However.. No new dumps created =\

What could be causing the dumps not to be created? Or is it as I posted from the other site, that windows just doesn't have the time to do it... Should I uncheck auto system restart?

OK I set the system to not auto restart. Got another BSOD. It said the memory dump was created. Once again, no dump. Last ones are from November.

Argh.

Have you tried searching for *. DMP

Yep, i use the program "Everything" to search, and i went into the minidump folder to make sure and there's still nothing in there.
