    BSOD on wake, seems related to ntkrnlpa.exe


    Hello

    Just updated my girlfriends Asus Eeepc 1000HE with Win7 and installed a new 2GB Corsair DDR2 memory.
    But sometimes when she tries to wake the computer up, she's greeted with a BSOD.
    They are all different, but they all seem to have something to do with ntkrnlpa.exe.
    (Iv'e never read a dumpfile until 10 minutes ago so I have no idea why or what is actually happening)

    any help would be awesome cause I don't want to take the computer back to xp.

    Don't even need to look at the dumps, I had recent experience with one of these, it uses a old atheros wifi device that was discontinued.
    I was able to finally get it stable after trying various drivers from the atheros website.
    anyhow here's the driver database entry on it.
    athr.sys
    Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN driver for CB42/CB43/MB42/MB43 Network Adapter - D-Link AirPlus DWL-G520 Wireless PCI Adapter(rev.B) discontinued 2008
    ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)
    The bottom link there is your best bet of solving this.
    I would also in an attempt to prevent crashes in the meantime go into the power options and do something that makes little sense on a portable device, make sure all usb devices and wireless devices are 'always on'
    This will drain a bit more battery life in the meantime, but since the primary changes between the vista driver you are using, and windows 7 as far as the device is concerned is the updated power management in win 7. Disabling those features should help if you can't find a better driver. (the one I found was pretty much by luck, it wasn't for the model number I was dealing with)

    It looked like it already had the latest driver from Atheros on the wireless.
    I tried though to downgrade it to the atheros-driver Asus recomends on ther site for the 1000HE on Win7.

    Although, since I didn't manage to recreate the problems I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully I wont have to come back here.
