Right or Wrong Diagnostics ?

While using the PC, Monitor at random shuts off, error code 1 long beep, 2 short beeps, video card ? My assumption is pointing to, video card, right or wrong ?

Are the beeps coming from the motherboard?

Fill in your specs with a little more detail and we can look up the code for you.

The Monitor shuts off, while the computer remains on. If I try to turn on the computer immediately after, I will get one long beep and two short beeps. If I wait a few minutes it turns back on with no problems. It is a older AMD x2 4400.

Without knowing what motherboard you have, what video card you have, and what monitor you have, my guess is that something is wrong somewhere. I could probably be more specific if I had a little more to work with.

Run this and see what it gives you for those three items:

JerometheGiraff, I'm not trying to be rude, but you have come here for help with a hardware problem. It is next to impossible to help with a hardware problem if we do not know what hardware you have. We want to help, but you have to help us help you.

+1 Essenbe and Prof - no system specs means its close to impossible to help solve this problem.

In addition to the program provided by prof, there is one provided by these forums and a guide to fill out your specs using it: System Info - See Your System Specs

I'm getting a mixed message on the type of error, as far as I'm aware it is a phoenix bios, which gives me the error that it is a motherboard issue and it needs to be replaced which I wouldn't do considering the computers age, on the other hand I've read that it's a video card issue and the video card needs to be replaced, which I would go ahead with. As I mentioned when it goes out the computer is still running, while the monitor shuts off. Logical guess is the video card is not sending the signal therefore monitor shuts off, or the video card is over heating, due to fan dying. Which could it be ?

Either one, your guess is as good as (or probably better since you know what computer you have) ours.

We still need your motherboard info...
