sorry, ya i already cancelled the prime95 and thats what was running that had 28 mins left but i stopped right after my last post. And ya everything was nice and snug when i put it all together, i was just trying to test cpu to make sure it wasnt faulty but not really sure of a goodway to test cpu without it overheating it seems cuz it gets up to 80 in prime95 but ya.

Ok so...after i did some tests of my own the lightbulb kinda went off and i belive i have found the issue of my BSOD and the reason my games crash. Im kinda urked right now cuz i already had all this typed up once and then desktop bsod again but now i know whats doing it but the real question is...should i be having this problem? Ill try to explain best i can and what i did to test this myself.

So, few days ago i had turned off auto OC in bios and all the features that speed up PC, there is a turbo mode and a intel speed up technology thing in bios, both were turned off. Cured my game crashes completly, i did still get 1 BSOD but not nearly as many. So i thought i would try something, i downloaded CPU Z and then in bios i turned on just turbo feature, played games fine it seemed, so then turned on intel speed up technology but i noticed my ram was set to 1333 instead of the 1600 ( or w/e the 1600 speed is, im sure u know which ) so i also turned on the TPU swtich on MB which was on before.

I then booted into windows and started up Need for speed the run and had it windowed so i could monitor CPUZ same time and this is where idk if its normal or not. I would ASSUME while gaming that the cpu would be maxed at full turbo mode which mine was auto set to 4.1 or 4.2 i believe but i noticed while playing game it was ramping up to 4ghz and back down to 1.6 corespeed in CPUz which i thought was weird, like it was up and down up and down non stop, never 1 or the other for very long and sure enough, got a game crash. Ok good, then as i went to load firefox bam BSOD.

Probably dont even need to post DMP cuz it gonna just be same thing again but i did confirm about the Ram led, this time on the BSOD no ram red led or any leds were on on MB. So my question is, shouldnt the default turbo mode be stable unless i was manually OC and all? cuz i see so many ppl default there turbo mode as the default ghz and get stable, my auto speed up aint even stable it seems so does that mean its the MB or CPU, it def has to be 1 or the other, i doubt PSU but i dont have a way to test PSU but my PSU is a 700 watt if it matters and cooler master is brand.

Ima do a few more tests to just be 110% bout this but i believe i found the cause of all the problems but like i said, why do i have these problems in first place when it should be stable with it on auto settings and default settings in bios, i never messed with OC in windows with the Asus utility at all by the way, never even installed.

Hope someone can shed some light on this but thats my 2 cents of few hrs of testing and hope it helps to solve this mystery once and for all lol. Ty already for the advice so far and in advance for reading all this blabber.

1 thing to note also, is it normal for the core voltage in cpuz to be going from 1.008 all the way up to 1.312 and more up and down ? i thought voltages were locked in and i also believe thats related to my problem cuz to keep going up and down in voltages like that non stop i would expect a crash right?

No input to why it errors on default turbo mode :/ ?

ok so since my MB is getting sent back i figure i mess around and manually OC it to 4.ghz, least i belive i OC it right, i just changed the 1 thing to 40 and assume thats it? anyway i also OC my gpu a little but from a site that has settings that work good and im no OC expert but my gpu use to avg 35-37C and since i overclocked and raised voltage it stays around 30-31C? How is that possible? I would think it run a tad hotter..

Sorry, for some reason I stopped receiving e-mail notifications when threads I am helping with are responded to.

I am not too familiar with the turbo settings, so I would have to ask to anyone who sees this if they can explain it to me. Just based on the turbo itself, it seems to me it is a burst of overclocking the CPU, and one of the first things we recommend when crashes occur is to stop all overclocking. Overclocking, even if done right, still raises the level of instability of the system. If there are any hardware problems, the overclocking itself is going to make it nearly impossible to narrow down which hardware is causing problems. It will usually end up causing the hardware that is being overclocked to show symptoms of failure even if that hardware is perfectly good.

I would recommend turning off all overclocking, turning off all turbo features, etc. and see how the system responds. Then if you have crashes, the crash reports should help pinpoint the actual cause of the crashes. Does that make sense?

Hmm, it made sense but i thought the turbo settings was overclocking or maybe i just mis understood what OC was lol, like when ppl overclock does it make the cpu run at say 4gz non stop or does the cpu still idle down when 4ghz is not needed? Cuz i didnt see anywhere else to put some numbers in to make cpu run faster except in the turbo settings and all.

And my gpu being overclocked now is idle at 29C? when it wasnt over clocked it was 34-35C, im still trying to figure out that 1 lol.

I avoid overclocking myself, but from what I have read, it will stay at a set speed (unless the CPU power management scheme is enabled; then it works with that speed as the max speed and runs lower at idle). It is set through voltage, timings, and tweaks in the BIOS; some BIOS versions make this pretty easy to set up.

As for the GPU, I agree the temperature thing does not make sense. All the same, I would recommend removing the overclock for the GPU and the turbo settings for the CPU. Let us know how things go after doing so.

Well thats kinda why i am OC cuz i spent few hrs yesterday confirming all this and with all the auto OC turned off, i had 0 errors but it was already off few days before i just didnt put 2 and 2 together and then it dawned on me that my turbo mode was being set to high i think and with it cranking up and down the voltages automaticly for a 4.2ghz turbo mode just seems unstable unless done manually or with a OC tuner like Asus has. But after i manually changed the turbo mode to 4ghz all seems fine so now im wondering if i should even send back board..

As far as GPU being OC, its just barely OC to what most ppl OC it at and now that it idles cooler is beyond me, my friend said something like that maybe the blah blah got broke in and now it runs cooler, idk lol?

Well still no BSODs and i been trying to induce 1 honestly since i manually OC both CPU and OC and it just aint happening so i honestly feel strongly that this issue is resolved and was due to the turbo mode setting itself to high for some reason, ima still do some testing and if no BSOD by tomorrow night, ima just cancel the RMA and keep board.
