UPDATE! It's stopped recognizing my keyboard or mouse after a random bsod.. I figured is wipe my hdd and reinstall Windows booting from the cd, but I was greeted with yet another blue screen as soon as it tried to launch setup. I can get my desktop to load normally but can't do anything.

May help to clear the CMOS: How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Also, try a hard reset to resolve hardware and software issues (works for all computers, not just HP Pavilions, minus the HP driver updates step).

Kirashiro25 i'm sorry to hear about your issues, i have the same problems with the same cpu and have had limited success.

i think it is a software problem because it runs more stable in safe mode and wont crash in bios, i got it more stable on normal windows 7 64bit by underclocking the cpu, manually setting the voltage settings and turning off turbo mode.

of course this is not the right way to fix the problem but its what i've been doing for a while and i only get bsod's if i leave the computer on for longer then about 2 days for the most part.

i've also had success on windows 8, i decided to try it out because i hear microsoft plans to fix amd-fx issues in it. (although the new interface is COMPLETELY unusable for a power user like you or myself unless you like working on a small ass screen like a tablet or phone)

i was able to run default bios settings no problem although my computer wasnt loading bios awhile after that from what i believe to be a unrelated issue.

you should also take a look here for a patch for the amd-fx series.. it seems they admit it has some issues? the interesting part is it talks about power problems (i get bsod as soon as windows boots) and i underclocked/manually set power to fix the issue, i havent tried this patch out yet.

goodluck mate, i'll keep checking up on this thread.. hopefully we can fix it, i thought i was alone =P

update: i'm running windows 8 developer preview (not the consumer preview)

with default bios settings without turbo on.. so far so good, i'm going to try overclocking a little and i'll update this post in 2-4 days with my progress with its stability.

the question is.. why is it more stable on windows 8?

about the windows 8 ui: i've reset it back to its normal state and its very useable.. sadly you cant do it in the consumer version.

ok i've noticed windows 8 developer version still has a few kinks but is still more stable, i believe the more updated consumer version solves all problems but i'm not sure.

after reading about microsofts plans i dont believe they will remove the new interface and force it upon people (which is ridiculous) unless enough people complain about it, since windows 7 doesnt support my cpu like it should i've switched over to linux.. i'm fed up with windows bullshit, so far i'm enjoying it very much.. it has Very noticeable performance improvements, AND i can still run windows games with wine.

Having BSOD's randomly and with some games

Hi lately I've been having the same problems on my PC. Its a custom built computer using various different parts. I've been having problems playing games and random BSOD's here and there. So I started looking around on the web to see if anyone else was having these problems as well. I found this forum and read it and went through the steps still nothing has fixed my issues. I did however run the memtest and found that one of my 4GB RAM had a bunch of errors. I tested the other slots with 3 other 4GB sticks that I have as well as the bad one, turns out one of them was bad. So I thought that would be the resolution to my problems. The game Portal 2 among a number of other Steam games will crash my PC. I downloaded windows debugging tools and looked at my mindump files and really can't understand what it means. If anyone has any other suggestions or anything to help with this problem it would be great. I haven't tried the driver verifier yet I'm kinda iffy on trying it and not being able to log back onto my PC without proper knowledge of how to fix it if anything happens. If you would like me to upload my dump files I can do so. Thank you.
