BSOD and now needs to be reinstalled. HELP!

HELP! My computer had a blue screen and shut down, upon starting up again it said windows needs to be reinstalled. If I reinstall what exactly will happen?

Will it go back to how it was before the error or will I have to make users again and things like that?

I do have a backup and I just tried a restore but it didnt work. Ill try again with different settings.

Dumb question but have you tried Windows System restore from safemode?
If all else fails I think there is a diagnosis app from your Win 7 install DVD.

See if you can boot in safe mode and restore from backup if you can as Jamesfed suggested

thanks jamesfed! It worked! I kinda panicked there because the restore (from the backup) didin't work but your suggestion of doing a system restore did it!
