Windows 7: No Wake From Sleep – BlockedI have an issue with the sleep function. T

The only problem now is that I am unable to connect with anything, including the mobiles for synchronization. What is strange is that the modem diagnose connection is OK with a perfect log file. This is with Windows connection established through Devices and Printers, clicking on the device to connect. I think this is the simplest way to connect because it is Windows conceived, not through software from other vendors.

All that came with were the drivers for XP, Vista and Win7 on a mini CD. The drivers on the site are of a version only a couple of months later on the date but they are actually the same byte by byte. Broadcom has a more recent one that I have already tried without any change. Before trying to buy another dongle I wanted to remove all drivers, clean all Bluetooth entries from the registry and reinstall, but I don’t know how. Asus also has Bluetooth drivers, as you told me before, but through the 52 available most are for Intel and I can’t find a suitable for my hardware. They are at ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Bluetooth

I would recommend that you stick with the drivers provided by the dongle manufacturer. ASUS drivers are for their own hardware and may cause conflicts. To do what you propose for uninstalling the drivers: Connect the device, uninstall it with the following steps:
  1. Click Start Menu
  2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
  3. Click Manage
  4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
  5. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
  6. Right click the device
  7. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
  8. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  9. Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.

Alternatively:
  1. Login as an adminstrative user.
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Click Hardware and Sound
  5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
  6. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
  7. Right click the device
  8. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
  9. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  10. Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.

If Windows asks you to restart, remove the device prior to restarting the computer.

Once you have done that, start CCleaner, select Registry from the list on the left, Scan for Issues, and then manually select only the Bluetooth/Broadcom/CSR entries in the issues box. If no Bluetooth/Broadcom/CSR entries exist, then the registry is most likely clean. Make sure to backup your registry before applying any fixes. I would also suggest that you create a system restore point prior to starting the uninstall process.

I followed your instructions. I hadn't noticed the possibility to delete the drivers on Device Manager when unistalling. At the end, I plugged the Bluetooth and it reinstalled 19 drivers as new, but didn't mention either Broadcom or CSR, as it should, according to the manufacturer (pictures below), and as it did before. Also, it didn't appear on CCleaner. I tested the modem on Windows Devices and Printers. It was OK, and it can connect to internet, but no sync, just the same. I do need that, but I am fed up of trying to repair without success. I will uninstall this and buy a new one, and will be back to tell the results sometime from now, not sure when. Thank you very much for now.

You may also consider a Repair Install of Windows 7 after backing up any important data. Backing up the data is more precautionary than necessary since the repair install rarely fails and will leave your data and programs intact.

A repair install is really the only useful advice I have left to offer regarding your somewhat strange issue. If you would prefer to just replace the device, I understand.

Thank you for the tip. I will try that in a few days. I will make a disk image, just in case. I have to see exactly how to do it because this installation was made with not a slipstreamed SP1, but an integrated SP1, which is not exactly the same. Or I will have to buy another Bt of another vendor to have different drivers. I will be back in some times to tell what happened. Thanks for your back up.

You want to repair install with an integrated SP1 disc, not a slipstreamed disc, so that should not be a problem.

Yes, I've just tried and it seems to work. I mean, after the compatibility test that recommends to uninstall ATI Catalyst, I stopped when it started copying files because I read somewhere that it can take hours and I can't do it now because the installation is not unattended and I don't have the time right now. Also, it seems that it can stop anywhere during the process, what I hope it won't.

A normal installation is very easy and quick because I have the CDs and DVDs copied to a hard drive and do it from there. About half hour. What is terribly long, hard working and annoying is installing all the programs and configuring. I hate to take this way just because of that. It can take me weeks, because I get so fed up that I can pause several times.

I am not sure I understand your most recent post. Repair install should be able to proceed unmonitored once you remove the applications flagged as incompatible. It will not require the re-installation of programs (minus those you removed that were incompatible), or data, only drivers and Windows updates. Are you referring to the drivers and updates that make you hesitant to go this route?

Sorry, I wrote too much. I made a paragraph to separate the subjects. Oh, its better if It goes unmonitored.

Ah, ok, I understand what you were saying now. As I said, the repair install should be able to complete unattended; it is rare that it does not.

I understand your feeling about the clean install. I just had to do a clean install of my Ubuntu system, and that was a PIA to get it configured as I like it.
