BSOD at very random times. Never at startup, always different conds.

System:
Hp Pavilion dv4 Notebook

Processor: AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile M520 2.30 Gz
RAM: 4.00 GB

System Time: Windows 7 64 Bit.

The computer is only about a year and a half old. Has always worked great and now I get random BSODs. Even after restoring it to factory systems three times, I still get random BSODs. And I can never recreate how it happens. Sometimes it won't happen for a whole day, sometimes it will happen every other minute. Downloaded BlueScreen viewer and it gives me a bunch of information. Will upload that.

No DMP's included above.


We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Some more information.

One thing windows says is "hardware changes my not be detected" and I have no idea what that makes.(Beyond the obvious statement).

Also I got this HP and it didn't come with any restoration discs. At is all "built in" as far as I know. Where when you recovery to factory settings you never use a disc.

I may not have the option to restore from a CD. And finally I was wondering if this could be some faulty hardware I might actually have to replace.

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

3-Norton/Symantec

Symantec is a frequent cause of BSOD's. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

So I should search google for every driver you quoted?

I've tried to do the updating or the Windows service pack 1 and I keep getting BSOD.

I am too the point of just wiping my hands clean.

I don't need anything on the computer at this point I just need the computer to work.(Online schooling. Work is all saved on an USB.)

I want to do a very clean install of Windows 7. Everywhere I go to look I have to boot from the CDs. Then when I go to look for these CDs to buy/order they never seem like the safest sites to give your information to.

In the end I want to completely wipe this entire computer and just start fresh and not be afraid of the ever looming "BSOD." So I just need help on how exactly to do this? Where do I get the Cds? What do I do when I get them? And all and anything else.

You obviously upgraded. If this were me I would do a clean install. If you dont want to then yes every driver prior to win 7's release needs to be updated, or if there is no newer one installed in "compatibility" mode

That's exactly what I want to do, a clean install. I just need help on how to go about doing that.

The HP didn't come with a windows seven disc. So I need to know how to get one and from where, and then what to do after that.
