error message - PXE-MOF : exiting PXE ROM boot failure

A few days ago my computer was running and then it restarted itself and this message appeared:

    Intel UNDI PXE-2.1 (build 082)
    Copyright (c) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
    For Realtek RTL8111B/8111C
    Client MAC ADDR:
    PXE-E53:
    PXE-MOF : Exiting PXE ROM
    Boot Failure
    Press any key to continue

-if i do it repeats itself.
I took it to a friend to look at and when switched on ran fine up until yesterday when this message appears when i try to turn it on. I have made sure all cables are plugged in.

    Please help
    Thanks

Its trying to boot from a network location.

Go into the BIOS and verify that the boot sequence has your HDD and CD drive before the PXE Boot.
Maybe worth doing a chkdsk to make sure that the disk isnt damaged.

    I have the same problem.

However, I have my HD set to boot first.
Therefore when I reboot and press F12 at the Dell logo
I get the boot options, then choose the HD, which is first, it boots fine with no problem.

Why do I have to press F12 to choose the HD if its already set to boot first and how can I stop this error?
