Will try the small fft test again and leave it running until something happens. Just remembered I haven't run the Intel test. OOps, screen just began rotating. Hope that's a part of the Intel test. yep, it is.
I thought I had posted a reply to say that the Intel test passed. Am now running small FFT test. All workers are on par, and temps are all OK.
Still running OK after more than an hour. No high temps, max 72, 76, 75, 72: currently 70-74. Will leave it running a while longer as have to go out and shop.
Well, there doesn't seem any problem with Prime95. After more than 2* hours, all cores are happily chugging along at about the same point. No temp probs.
I can't really take the computer back to supplier with no specific problem.
They supplied it to me assembled and with OS and MB software installed. At that stage it seemed to be running well, although I cannot now tell if it had any inherent struggles. What's our next move?
More than 4 hours!

A re-start when running prime95 indicates a failure, it will normally run until you stop it.

It is possible that the CPU voltage is just a little low for your system.
Let's check the idle and full load CPU voltages.
Can you Download CPUZ and post a snip of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs with your system at idle, for general information.
For posting the information , enter 'Snipping tool' in the Start button > Search box, hit enter. Select the area you want to post and save to a convenient place.
How to Post a Screenshot in Seven Forums
Then start up Prime95 with CPUZ running, post a snip of the CPU tab.
Then we can see the Core speed and current voltage at idle and under full load.

How old is your OCZ Vertex 3?
What firmware does it have?

crashed again

crashed again at 3pm. event viewer entries only relate to restart, saying earlier shutdown was unexpected. Have now seen Jonathan's message #82 and will do that soon. Bob 3:45pm

Is this correct? I thought I would see a boot partition and another for programs.

You'll have to hit Populate in order to see the volumes.

Dave - he is using Vertex 3 firmware 2.15:

I tried 'populate' but nothing changed. I'm not sure what the above data means though.

Have been running Prime95 for about 2 hours now since last crash. Here's the CPU status.
Won't be able to watch for any replies for about 8 hours from now.

Computer shut down and restarted a number of times overnight. It seems to run for irregular periods, and as far as I can tell, only shut down about 3x in 8 hours. Have you been able to identify anything from the information sent so far?
I think I am about ready to take computer back to supplier and ask them to fix it if they can.
