Freezing randomly at all times, Event Viewer suggests driver issue...
I know nothing about this stuff so I've been learning as I try to troubleshoot this issue. This is my build in case it matters:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 (645)
Mainboard: MSI 870-G45
RAM: 4x2 GB DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6900
HDD: Seagate 2 TB
PSU: Corsair GS 700W
My first graphics card was the GeForce 240 and I've seen others report similar problems to mine (computer freezes up, loops sound, requires hard boot) but I have since upgraded to the GPU in my build above. When I go to event log it USED TO say:
"The driver \Driver\ATITool failed to load for the device Root\*ATITOOLDEVICE\0000."
And this was time stamped at the moment of the crash. Then I went into device manager and uninstalled the ATITool driver, which stopped this error message but didn't stop the freezing.
I only assume that this is driver-related because I have done every kind of hardware check and test and others in the forums with similar problems have been told this might be their drivers. It does seem software related but again I know nothing about any of this. Anyone out there know what's going on? I can provide any other necessary information.
Thanks for reading!
