What monitor are you using and do you have a spare one?

I might also add that zigzag3143 is much more advanced and experienced than me when it comes to most things computer related so you would do well to listen to his advice over mine.

Thanks Jaidyn, but not necessary. I always appreciate the help, especially when there is previous history.

    Feel free, anytime.

    I'm using a Starlogic MJ7BBA monitor, I think 17 inches. I do not have a spare one unfortunately =/

Thank you BOTH for your help and efforts. If there is any other information I can give to either of you to better diagnose my problem, let me know. Right now, I'm just going to suspend use of my desktop and slowly clean out the dust and everything, but if there is a better idea, please let me know! Thanks again, both of you!

Hm, okay. I was just thinking if it's not the graphics card it could be something like perhaps the monitor or mobo.

If I remember correctly, you haven't stress tested your new card? So, test your video card using Furmark. Watch your machine's temps and stop the test if it starts to overheat or artifacts appear on the screen.

Yeah, I haven't tested the new graphics card. I thought something was wrong with the onboard, so I thought the new discrete one might solve my problems, but obviously that hasn't happened =/ I'll stress test it when I'm home tonight; any idea how long I should stress test it?

    I'd say at least 20min.

So I've ran the test for a good 40 minutes now, and it looks fine. Max temperature is at 73 C, with dynamic background on, full screen, anti-aliasing off, and burn-in enabled. The 73 drops to about 64 degrees if I turn off the furry object rendering. There are two FPS readings: one that says "FurMark v1.9.0 - Burn-in test, 1280x720 - 47FPS" and one that says "FPS - min: 39, max 349, avg: 50" Fan speed is at 51%. So I think my graphics card is okay. I got the AMD driver stopped responding and recovered successfully message again today, but the screen hasn't crapped out on me yet. Any other suggestions?

Okay, so it looks like its not the GPU. I would highly recommend trying to find another monitor, burrowed from a friend or neighbour. It could well be a problem with it. My current monitor blacks out on occasion forcing me to restart. However, that doesn't happen with any other monitors I use.

Whew, it's good to hear my GPU is okay. I don't have another monitor to borrow at this time =/. Is there a way to check if something is wrong with my motherboard, or CPU, or hard drive?
