Windows 7 64 bit restarts after resuming from sleep mode

After a recent clean install on a new SSD connected with ESATA rear port(and powered by a usb adapter),
ive been having this problem.

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Professional w/ SP1
Keep in mind this computer has no internet so the only update ive installed was SP1 standalone installer. No updates past SP1....I've looked into the hotfixes and none of them seem like they would fix this specific problem.....

I leave the computer overnight

I hit the mouse or keyboard to wake the pc up.

Everything seems normal, The login screen comes up and it says locked. I type password.

As soon as i click to open a program or anything. Windows freezes and Restarts within 10 seconds. ( restart cycle, 1. Bios Splash screen 2. esata connected drives are shown 3.Resuming Windows 4. Login screen - locked)

I've noticed that instead of "Starting Windows" is says "Resuming Windows" while it restarts.

I've tested to see if a document stays open after restart and it does. So realistically the sleep is working.

It's not a major problem. It's just been annoying me for awhile. My old install did not restart itself after resuming from sleep.

I can say one thing, it's not the bios ( i did some research on the settings)
The bios is set to S3 (suspend -to - ram)

Power Settings are
Allow hybrid sleep (on)
usb selective suspend (enabled)
hibernate (off)
turn off hard disk after (20 mins)
require a password on wakeup (yes)
allow wake timers (enabled)
put the computer to sleep after (1 hour)

if you can help me out with this minor annoyance i'd truly appreciate it

SOLVED
Hybrid sleep is set to (enabled/on)
I updated the SATA/IDE controllers
I updated the jmicron controller
I updated the intel chipset drivers
I changed the bios settings:
Sata controller - changed from IDE to AHCI
Mass Storage Controller - changed from IDE to AHCI

I then started to have another problem so i searched around
My computer was shutting down instead of entering sleep mode

I then followed these steps:
1) Search for "CMD"
2) Right click "CMD" and "Run as Administrator"
3) In the command line, type in "powercfg.exe /hibernate off"

Now my computer sleeps and wakes backup flawlessly plus i have a higher disk windows experience score and im getting better performace on my pc..

Try turning off hybrid sleep. It appears that your sleep is being interrupted, and somehow the system is losing the RAM cache, so it reverts to the hibernation file to resume. Hybrid sleep stores the system state in the RAM and in the hard disk, so if a power failure occurs, the system does not lose its state before it went to sleep. If you disable hybrid sleep, you may get errors that show what the true cause is.

Hibernate - Enable or Disable gives steps for enabling and disabling both hibernate and hybrid sleep.

It looks like you IDE/SATA controller is not installed properly or is out of date.

Also, it would help to know the sequence of events that you have saved for us to look at. I am not sure exactly what behavior I should be looking for. I knew in the previous set that you were experiencing a wake from sleep that turned into a wake from hibernate. What were the results of turning off hybrid sleep so it no longer woke from hibernate?

Your system logs may come in handy:

Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Windows Logs
Click System
Right click System
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as System.evtx
When asked, save the display information in English.
Go to where you saved System.evtx
Create a new folder by right clicking in a blank area within the folder System.evtx is saved in. You could also click New Folder at the top of the directory under the directory path box.
Name the new folder System.
Place System.evtx and the LocaleMetaData folder into the new System folder.
Right click the System folder -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder

So, does this mean you no longer do a true hybrid sleep? Does the hibernate file still exist? If so, I'd be curious if mod date gets adjusted after your next "hybrid sleep"...

You're welcome. Glad it was resolved. As sibbil suggested, you may want to make sure everything is as it should be in regards to hibernating being turned off.

Ok i double checked the power options..
"Allow hybrid sleep" and "hibernate after" are not there anymore.
Hibernate file is gone.
Documents save their state and re-open.
I've uploaded a few system events for you in order after i hit sleep if you really want to check them... thanks again
