Windows 7: Multiple Blue Screens happening randomly, cannot identify problem

I had a similar issue a few months ago. My computer was defaulted as the H Drive instead of the C Drive. I built my computer for the first time and the card reader took the C Drive slot. I was advised to unplug the card reader (I don't ever use it) and reinstalled Windows 7. I did so, C Drive is back to how it should be and working well.

Everything was fine until recently. I'm experiencing several blue screens, sometimes consecutively, for no apparent reason. I've run memory tests several times with no failures. I've run hard drive tests with no failures. I've updated all Windows updates including the optional updates. I downloaded a registry cleaner and ran that several times, as well as running my virus scanner.

I'm all out of ideas as to what's causing this problem. It doesn't seem any one particular thing causes it. Sometimes my computer will be idling, shuffling through iTunes, sometimes I'll be surfing the internet. It will slightly freeze up for a second and Blue Screen. I initially thought it was a bad RAM stick but the memory tests state otherwise.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause. Yours is from 2004

Thank you for the quick reply. I was able to download and install the ASUS driver. After the automatic restart, I tried finding the amdk8.sys driver update but I am having no luck.

My driver states it was updated in July 2009. There are no newer drivers available (from what I can see) on the AMD website. When checking my Hardware in Devices, I am not able to update the AMD driver. Under Device Manager Windows searches but determines I'm up to date with this driver.

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place?

Unfortunately I had another Blue Screen while sorting through songs in iTunes. I'm attaching a dump log. If you still believe it's the AMD driver, can you point me in the right direction of where I can update it? The timestamp on the driver is 07/13/2009.

I downloaded and installed the AMD VISION Engine Control Center hoping it would update my drivers, since I can't find the amdk8.sys driver update anywhere.

No issues last night. I had a BSOD this morning after I turned on my PC before I even sat down. Then a second one 30 minutes later when I came to this website to post the mini dump.

Attached both dumps.

The dumps point to amdk8.sys as the probable cause.
amdk8.sys is related to your AMD Processor.

If you are overclocking, please STOP.

In order to eradicate the BSOD, please try to do the following:
Update your Processor Driver, if possible.

Please run the System Collection Tool and post the outcome here.:

Thanks Ken I will do that now. I just had a third BSOD, this was much different than the others. I know I caught "win32" and something about a mismatch. I'm not overclocking, not sure what that even is so I'm not doing it :P

I performed the System Collection Tool. Attaching it with this post. I've tried like hell to find an update to the amdk8.sys driver. Everything I've found online is outdated information dating back 3+ years. It all has to do with the "Cool N Quiet" technology. I've never had an issue in the past so I'm not sure why it all of a sudden is now.

The timestamp on the driver is 07/13/2009. If I could find an update for the driver I'd gladly do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately there is either no update available or I'm not looking in the right places. Hopefully it's the latter.

The fact that the CPU was involved may indicate a possible hardware problem; your latest dump files show a Memory Management issue
Run MemTest86+ RAM - Test with Memtest86+

The CPU should be tested too.
Run Prime 95 to test your CPU. Carefully the instructions in this tutorial: CPU - Stress Test with Prime95. Run 3 separate tests, one on each of the settings (Blend, Small FFTs, Large FFTs). Post back with your results.
Note that this test may overheat the CPU, ensure proper cooling

Remove AVG until we that sorted out.
