windows 7 crashed twice on my toshiba satellite on 2 diferent hard dri

    Hello

i have a toshiba satellite a 105-s2101 it ran fine on win 7 for a whille then it crashed, it wouldnt restart at all, i reformatted and reinstalled the os, it took a extremly long time to load and once it did it ran extremly slow, i reformated and installed the original xp on it, an it took a long time to load as well and it ran super slow, i bought a new hardrive, installed windows 7 on it and it went normal, and it ran normal, a few weeks passed and it crashed again, it wont start, and when i plugged the hard drive via usb to another computer it says that its not formatted, i dont understand, is their any known cases like these?

    thx for any help

That usually means the drive is corrupted to the point that Windows cannot read it.
    • Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log.
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

512 ram to little memory for windows 7?

thx fo the reply, the problem is i cant event get in to safe mode to do that, so i ran a hdd regenerator, its been plugged in more than 12 hours and reports over 3000 bad sectors and is regenerating, im guesing thats the end of the brand new hard drive, my concern is that it has done this to 2 hard dives, and this last one i bought new, could it be windows 7?, this laptop belongs to a client of mine and they ran windows 7 32 bit with 512 ram to begin with, thats how i saw the laptop the first time, i wouldnt run win7 like that but thats what they want, could the low ram memory be at fault?

It's likely the lack of RAM is causing issues: 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) is the minimum requirement. See Windows 7 system requirements - Microsoft Windows

One possible solution is to use Readyboost with a flash drive that has at least 4 GB of storage.

See if that provides more stability for the drive.

Another option: increase the virtual memory/pagefile size. My guess is the pagefile is being overused due to the lack of RAM and resulting in hard disk errors. To resize the pagefile: Start Menu -> Right Click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings -> Under Performance, click Settings... -> Advanced tab -> Under Virtual memory, click Change... -> Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives -> Change the custom size for C: to Initial Size (MB): 2048 and Maximum size (MB): 4096

Click set, and click OK. Restart the computer to apply the changes.

See if that provides more stability for the drive.
