    Updates causing crash?

I have W7 RTM. I just finished running Windows Updates and said it needed a restart to complete the process. After I restarted it its operating as if I have no admin rights and can't open any applications. I've tired a system restore, but it will not work. It says it requires admin rights. I also tired it in safe mode and got that the message that there was no environment to run it in. Anyone had any problems like this?

Ok, tried method on. I got an error saying "the system could not find the environment option that was entered". I also tried option number two and got the "System error 5 access denied" but I did run cmd as Admin. Any other things I could try?

You could try the advanced repair options....

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD & after entering your region settings, click 'Advanced Repair Options' then 'Use tools.....' (or something similar, should be top selection). From here you can perform and 'Out-Of-Environment' system restore.

    Hope this helps :)

yes, same thing happening here after windows update downloaded & installed the new security update (kb971961) that just came out to supposedly fix some network security problem or w/e...

i can barely use internet explorer/firefox to try & download things or use p2p stuff w/o windows 7 going bsod on me everytime...

had to go into windows update & manuelly uninstall kb971961...i guess rite now i'll live w/o this new update till ms does something about it
