Windows 7: BSOD during sleep. athrx.sys issue?

My computer has been shutting down during sleep. It will wake OK within a few minutes, but after more than 10 min it will have crashed. Windows reports abnormal shutdown on restart. Most recent minidump files are attached.

They mention:
X64_0x9F_3_IMAGE_athrx.sys
X64_0x9F_3_athrx_IMAGE_pci.sys

This file athrx.sys is 2229608 bytes 11/5/2010.
I located this file fro download on another site and it is 1,542,656 bytes.
Could be infected, but virus scans are OK.

I would really appreciate some advice on the best way to proceed. Thanks

It is the athrx.sys driver in both crashes. I would download the latest driver and re-install it.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have downloaded and reinstalled drivers from the Acer site. Firstly the Atheros Wireless Lan driver and I also tried the Broadcom driver. It seems that with Wireless connections active the computer does not actually go into sleep mode (disk drives are still busy). If I run wireless off before sleeping, then the computer sleeps normally. At least I can avoid the problem now.

Do you want the computer to sleep with wifi connections active?

No, but it's a laptop top, so I want to be able to shut the lid and I expect it to sleep when set to do so. Why does the wireless being active prevent sleeping.

Generally speaking most people wont want wifi active when they sleep (its a power drain, and a security issue) so that is the default. There is a setting in Network and Sharing>advanced adapter settings>power management to change that but it will disconnect when it sleeps. See snip
