hello, thanks for taking a look, this issue has been driving me crazy for some time but I have never been able to reliably recreate it until now. I have also searched it to death and its just above my head what to do next without the help of some kind stranger.

I understand that this issue has been discussed to death so I will just give a brief description, seemingly at random my computer will preform a reset, no bsod, no minidump recorded, just black screen. it happened today when I was trying to watch the new dark knight trailer, it happens every time i try to view it. it gets almost all the way through and bam black screen.

In the past I have tried replacing hardware (motherboard, memory) that I knew had win 7 compatibility problems to no avail, I have run memtest, cpu stress tests, gpu stress tests, checked cpu temp, etc. no problems with any of them. I have also made sure the video driver is up to date and uninstalled the previous drivers.

So hopefully someone here will have at least a direction to point me in thanks for your time.

well i gave it a shot and it appears that the nvidia stereoscopic 3d driver service may be causing the problem.

UPDATE n/m that was at least not the only cause because it became worse after i uninstalled the steroscopic drivers,

so i did what the guide said and disabled half of the services, the video was very choppy but it played all the way through, then i did the same with the other half and so on till i isolated the steroscopic service, the video remained choppy until i clicked that one on then it crashed.

i used add/remove programs to remove the 3d driver and control pannel. then enabled all services, video was smooth, but it crashed right away. then i started the process over again and now the video is smooth with every service of but it also crashes with every service off.

next i thought to just try not using firefox, and with services disabled it seems to play fine in internet explorer. could it be that the problem is as simple as firefox? but i could swear that i remember this happening in the past when firefox was not even running. im very frustraited.
