    * Are you running the latest version of Skype?
    * What error messages have you received?
    * Have you checked in Event Viewer?
    * What software have you installed in the last week that may be creating problems?
    * Have you worked your way through https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/...on-my-computer
    * Have you tried a System Restore to a date PRIOR to the problem?

    * Type eventvwr in search.
    Go to the Windows Logs > Application/System in the left hand column.
    Note anything in red that relates to the freeze.
    Please record the event ID, and the Source Code and tell us what they are.

    skype freezes my laptop

    Hi

    I have a similar problem. I've got Windows 7 Home premium 64bit. When I use skype, after some time of video chatting everything freezes and the only way is to press the switch on button for 5sec and then turn the laptop back on again. It happens after random periods of time and not every time I use skype. I've checked and in the Windows log the following errors are described: source- CAP12, event ID- 4107. I think I've got the most up to date skype version- 5.8.0.158. Can anyone please say what it means and what could be causing this problem?
    Thanks
