    BSOD when starting some programs

Sometimes when loading Unity (uses graphics card) I'll get a blue screen, but not always. I've been playing games fine. Sometimes loading Firefox it'll say it's "stopped working", but it'll work after that.

I noticed my sound icon red-x'd yesterday, but Windows fixed it by restarting the service.

I have installed new RAM within the last 2 months. I'm thinking that it's probably the case. Not done memtest yet, but maybe you can find something else in the provided files.

scannow found corrupt files, but couldn't fix some of them. CBS is attached.

The single DMP shows a memory exception (either ram or more likely a driver) possibly caused by your avast.

If SFC cant fix the files it is probably a good idea to do a repair install

Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

If you need any more help after doing the recommended repair install and Security Service change, please let us know. I went through your drivers and there are some updates needed. Also, your BIOS is version F5, we are on F11 now. (I have the same board/cpu, great board)

I also have Carbonite installed, which does backups. I think it also scans files which might cause a problem, although it's turned off.

I did also update avast recently, so that could be the issue. I'll try MS Essentials.

Yes a lot of drivers will be outdated. I'll update them.

The culprit was one of my sticks of RAM. It had 10000+ errors within 1 minute of testing with memtest.

The other 3 seem ok, but I didn't test them for long. A day wasted, but it's all good now.

I use Comodo Firewall + avast for virus scanning, plus other ad/malware scanners. Do you guys recommend these, or something better?

    Thanks!

Strictly from a BSOD perspective Microsoft Security Essentials causes the fewest crashes (IMHO)

I would also add malwarebytes to the mix .
