This tells you how to do it. You should probably update your other drivers before flashing the BIOS though. Again, how stable are you now?

Yes, your event logs are full at this point. Go ahead and save a copy of the logs so that you can reference if needed.

Go ahead and see how the computer behaves for a bit and let us know.

drivers and bios updated with the latest versions malware checked and microsoft security essentials protected,
the sfc/scannow checked with no problems and the boot scan completed, here is the latest admin event log

Establish a Clean Boot and use the System Resources to find problems and solutions as given in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7. Google repeat errors especially in Performance log at time of hang.

Is this a factory preinstall of Win7? If so I would Clean Up Factory Bloatware although most tech enthusiasts prefer to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - everything you need is in the link.

What is your Display device and current installed driver? Have you tried other drivers or recently updated it? You can see all previously installed drivers at Device Manager>Display>Driver tab>Update Driver>Browse>Let me Pick. Did Sleep work correctly with a prior driver?

as far as i remember this laptop has always had the occasional freeze after sleep/hibernate even when i first unpackaged it i think that night it froze so im not sure if rebooting back to my back up disk will really do any thing as this was always there, after using the driver detector program all my drivers are upto date and iv downloaded the updates from the asus website for the bios latest update

Then I would seriously consider a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Otherwise Clean Up Factory Bloatware and then if necessary work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

As it says in the first tutorial you should only use the drivers given by the installer and updated via optional Windows Updates unless drivers are missing or traced to performance problems. This is not XP, Win7 is driver-complete. Using a driver program might have compounded the problem.
