    Photoshop Causes Blue Screen Crash

    Dear Windows 7

I need help big time. As of 5-10-12 Adobe Photoshop CS2 crashes each time I open it. I keep getting the "blue screen" error.

    "Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 50
    BCP1: FFFFF88013B53D20
    BCP2: 0000000000000001
    BCP3: FFFFFA800660A2E6
    BCP4: 0000000000000002
    OS Version: 6_1_7601
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 256_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\051312-23852-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Christopher Chow\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-40357-0.sysdata.xml

    Windows Failed Updates
    Code FFFFFFFE"

I have sought help online but all I usually get is the token, "Run anti virus software." or "Update Windows."
All that has been done but I did find a real post here from over a year ago that got real help.

I can upload my "dump" file if that will help, but please don't just refer me to another quick generic answers page. This is a specific problem which just like the last post requires a specific answer.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

    If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

    The procedure:
    * Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
    * Zip up the copy.
    * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
    To ensure minidumps are enabled:
    * Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
    * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
    * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
    * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
    * Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
    * OK your way out.
    * Reboot if changes have been made.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Please upload your dump file so that one of our BSOD experts can analyse it for you.

Edit: I see that zigzag has already responded to you. :)

    Many thanks.

Let me know if this is the right file.

Here's a little more info, no new software was downloaded on 5-10-12 but Windows did do some automatic updates.

In Safe Mode Photoshop will not cause a blue screen crash but it says I do not have Administrative Privileges to open it.

    Other Adobe products work fine.

Here's a list of things already attempted and failed to resolve the problem.

    -System Restore

    -Repairing Photoshop

-Removing Photoshop (caused blue screen crash.)

I also took a HQ photo of the blue screen crash if that helps? But it's way too big to post even zipped.

Could be a problem with ACPI. The one dump shows a write attempt via CLASSPNP.SYS then a page fault. But the OP hasn't followed the directions given and insufficient data has been supplied. No system specs, no nothing.

Could be waiting for a while.

In addition to the instructions linked to by carwiz, please fill in your system specs by following the steps in System Info - See Your System Specs. Fill them in in your profile, not in a post in this thread.

Hi dollanganger, welcome to 7F! :)

Along with what carwiz found out, your .dmp mentions adobelmsvc.exe

CLASSPNP.SYS is a file that lets windows control your hardware such as; printer, sound card, monitor, cdrom, modem, mouse, etc. .

adobelmsvc.exe is part of the license management service that is used to make sure you are not using a pirated copy of their software. See above link.

These two work hand-in-hand, and when everything checks out, PS CS2 loads, if not it will crash your machine.
So I suspect something has either changed on your machine or one or the other or both files have become corrupt.

When you tried to repair, and then remove PS did you follow these instructions? Photoshop Help | Install/uninstall Photoshop CS2
Did you try to remove PS CS2 while in Safe Mode?

This is only speculation on my part, it would be helpful if you would fill out your specs, and run a proper jcgriff BSOD report like the previous members have suggested.
