Windows won't start - not even in safe mode :(

I was trying to delete this program that wouldn't uninstall, so I went to regedit, chose WOW6342node (I think those were the numbers), and clicked delete. I got a message about how I didn't have permission or something of that nature, so I assumed I didn't really delete anything. I realized that this wasn't the right folder after all... It looked liked it had some important stuff in it! After that Google wouldn't open, and my programs stopped responding, so I tried to restart. Now it won't log on at all! My username doesn't show up, just a bunch of triangle, squares, and circles. Then the symbols go away, and there's a blank blue screen. The screen flashes about every 30 seconds but doesn't start. I tried safe mode with command prompt, and it won't let me type anything in. It goes back to the same blue screen. I'm on a different computer now. I don't know how to fix it without getting into Windows. Did I really mess up? Is there some kind of code I can type in while the system is booting?

Try the steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot and post back as you proceed what the results are. Also, let us know if you need any help during that tutorial.

Welcome aboard, bluedream919 Follow the tutorial that writhziden suggested, but as you cannot run your computer in safe mode, too; and it happened due to some modifications in registry, IMO you first try for a System Restore to an earlier point of time.

At the same time, the 7th step of the tutorial that writhziden suggested is SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot . You should try it, too, to get the system elements back to default.

Thanks for the advice, I am going to try the tutorial and see if that helps. I tried a couple other things last night but no dice. I have a VAIO so I read about pressing F10 while the computer is booting. It brought me to VAIO repair center, and I ran every diagnostic test, but no errors were found. Then I tried F8 repair computer, and did all those tests- nothing showed up either. I tried to restore system to an earlier point, and it said it was unable to do it - Error Code 0x800703f1. At thiis point, I'm mainly concerned about saving my pictures. I know I should have saved them before hand, but I didn't If I follow the instructions in the tutorial is it going to wipe everything out? It sounded a little confusing to me, but I'm going to try it anyway.

I couldn't perform step one in the tutorial. I tried the 1st part of step two - downloading Windows Defender Offline to a flash drive. It wouldn't work. I got error code 0x8050800c when trying to scan. I have a question about the bootable rescue cd... Can I put the program on a USB instead? I don't have any CDs available.... If I can't use the USB, I will continue this tomorrow. Thanks for the responses.
