Dell inspiron 14r: Error 0xc00000e9: Unexpected I/O error

hey friends this is a tougher one. I get this error using both a HOme premium DVD and using the HDD on this system ... best I can tell it is not giving me options about what sort of boot to attempt. Not sure the hardware is healthy but there are no removable devices present [that is no sd card, no usb thingies plugged halfway in, just the dvd drive which is either empty or with the win7 disc, depending on attempt]

someone pls give me the magic incantation...

got a tip and basically turned off everything that could be turned off and still load/repair Win7 and that much worked. I was able to boot the DVD, only to find that the hard drive itself would not allow formatting. I pulled the drive and have it on my test mule now - does not look good as it will only communicate slowly and sporadically - probably will replace it.

    thanks gang
