    BSOD when downloading with u-/bittorrent

    Hi,

lately (last 3 days) i have been getting BSOD when i download with bittorrent. It starts about 5-10 min into the download. Tried out utorrent but got the same results.
This PC is about a year old, it is connected via ethernet-cable and i have never had any problems with torrents before.

This is my first time posting on any kind of help forum and i hope i did not make any obvious mistakes. I followed the BOSD - Posting Instructions and attached the zip.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Ichithechiller,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

    REMOVAL OF P2P PROGRAMS

There are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

As long as you are using any form of P2P networking to download files, you can anticipate malware infestations.

References citing the risk of using P2P programs:
How cyber criminals infect victims via P2P with pirated software on Vimeo

I strongly recommend that you uninstall:
    µTorrent
    Vuze

Since you have been using torrenting software, then please run WDO (Link in my signature)

    Ok now i feel silly...

After a quick search in the forum and comparing my problem with others, i downloaded the McAffee removal tool.
    http://download.mcafee.com/products/...tches/MCPR.exe
Funny thing is i thought i had already removed McAffe manually.

I have been downloading for 1 hour now without a problem. If it stays this way i will mark this thread as solved tomorrow.

    Thanks zigzag3143 for the info.

Glad to hear that you got rid of McAffe, also known as, MuckAfee.

You might want to consider using as your one and your only anti-malware software MSE, Microsoft Security Essentials. Link to MSE in my signature.
