I am using dell insipiron n5010. Windows was slow for thrower couple of days and today it's not even loading the desktop and the startup to the welcome page is dead slow. The hdd light is always on display. Please help me
Are you able to get to the desktop?
If so, start Resource Monitor and click on various tabs (CPU, Memory, Disk) and see if you can determine what's hogging the machine.
To start Resource Monitor
Click Start, click in the Start Search box, type resmon.exe, and then press ENTER.
Or, follow the directions at the top of this page for uploading dump files and we can take a look at the logs.

Thank you for the reply. The performance monitor shows the CPU usage as minimum and yet the light still glows
If you boot into SafeMode, is the problem still there?

Ø When the Windows Boot Manager screen appears,
Press the F8 key
Ø The Advanced Boot Options screen will appear.
Ø Using the down arrow key, highlight Safe Mode
Ø Press the ENTER key.
