My mistake. Was not aware your card was so new... If you try anything prior to 12.3, make sure to create a system restore point prior to using the older driver.

I have tried Unigine on 2nd page of usasma's thread. Seems like the stress test is only included in paid version. The free version only provide normal tests like benchmarking. Anyway, I have tried this test for several times. Most of time it finished without problems. Only once, the whole computer crashed and frozen like what happened when I played 3D games for a while.

I will try running a stress test tonight cuz it seems that it needs a couple of hours to finish.

About 11.8, the installer doesn't even allow me to install display driver. So I guess it doesn't support 7850 then.

I don't think overheating would be the cause. I noticed the GPU temperature was around 50 every time before crash.

I also found out, when I use driver 12.3, I can only play games for about 20min - 1 hr till computer crashes. But when I use 12.4, it can hold for a couple of hours. However, it still got frozen and crashed in the end when I almost thought problem gone. Does this mean it's probably the driver's problem? Maybe it can be solved in future version? If it is, I might end up returning the VGAs. don't wanna wait lol

Let's see if it is a software conflict first. Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Have you tried installing just the drivers without the Catalyst software?
    • You should already have the installer downloaded and installed the drivers/Catalyst software, so your drivers probably exist in C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc where the x's replace your version number of the driver software.
    • Uninstall all AMD software related to your graphics card by uninstalling AMD Catalyst Install Manager in Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Uninstall a program
    • Restart your computer.
    • Re-install your drivers from the C:\AMD\Support\xx-x_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc folder using a similar method to that in OPTION TWO of Drivers - Install Vista Drivers on Windows 7

I tried, but it says found driver software but can't install for some reasons.

Anyway, I have just tried my VGA on my friend's computer. The same problem occurred. So I guess I'm returning the cards then. Maybe no driver's ready for 7850 yet.

Could also be you have a faulty set of cards. Can you run them individually, or is this a crossfire set that comes as one card?

I have been running only one card these two days. Because I found out another card is faulty two days earlier since it keeps screen blinking on both my friend's machine and mine. But yeah, the other one also didn't work when my friend tested it today on his machine. He did a bit research and told me many ppl complaints Radeon HD 7850 from Gigabyte. So I guess this is it.

Thanks all for replies. I'm going out to return the cards now.

Jesus, after 3 days, the computer store finally told me: yes, both cards have problem, u can swap with another.

Then I got a new GTX 670. Guess what happened? The problem still exist! There's even more, I can only play game like 2-3 mins with this new card until my PC frozen + monitor down (like it turned off automatically). I have tried twice with different drivers.

This scares me because it seems to be caused by something else but not VGA, and looks like it damages the cards since both my friend and the PC store tested the cards that I have used and told me they didn't work.

Another weird thing is that, I have been using VGA onboard these days while I was waiting for reply from the PC store. It runs completely fine. Of course, I have to decrease my game graphic setting tho.

Any ideas of the source of this problem? Could it be something wrong with the motherboard?

    Thanks.
