    First scan reported this -
    Code:
Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

    C:\Users\Lightning>sfc /scannow
Should I still reboot, I just run it again?

Reboot. See if it resolves the remaining problems.

Well the system tray or toolbars still look the same and my shortcuts are in the temp folder but the second test came back 100% fine.

What about rogue killer, is that safe to run for the registry?

The fakerean tool should have resolved the hidden shortcuts. Strange. The only other tool I know of for these problems is:

Unhide.exe - A introduction as to what this program does

I ran unhide after I ran unhide earlier (before posting here) to see if it would reveal more, but it just rehid alot of folders that unhide revealed, so I don't think it will work again.

so basically I had nothing on my desktop:
-ran unhide, but the taskbar was empty and the notifications were wrong (i fixed them just now though manually)
-ran unhide again to see if it would reveal more hidden icon - what that did was rehide everything.
-ran unhide again and it all came back except the taskbar

so like I said at that point (just now) I just repinned stuff to it and changed the look of the notifications icons back to normal, manually. I did that because I don't have the smtmp folder either in the temp folder so I couldn't restore those and hopefully they aren't hidden on the taskbar. It was just a few pinned icons really.

I just suppose at this moment, that while things seem fine, I'd want to make sure whatever got me is gone for good.

Hopefully everything I am writing is clear. I am half Japanese and half irish so all this english is self taught for the most part. Let me know if I am ever unclear and I will reword.

Is there anyway I can add you and James to friends? I mean I really like how you guys operate, it is very easy for me to follow and you seem really thoughful in your replies. I usually don't have problems this severe, but occasionally it can happen.

I looked over the link too about security and downloaded that program you mentioned.

It's odd that MSE doesn't catch many of the problems it used to. For a long time it seemed to notify me and fix anything but now things are just slipping right past it.

It really depends on what items you have get on the system that are malicious. If you look at various antivirus reviews of many different programs, you will see the best at catching things vary from review to review. It depends on what they test against and how they test. All antivirus programs are susceptible to viruses and malware; it just depends on whether someone has come up with a variant those programs are not able to detect.

Basically, no antivirus is foolproof. The best antivirus is being careful what sites you open and what you download.

To get further help with security and make sure all remnants of your malicious item you caught are removed, start a thread in System Security - Windows 7 Forums. We have some great experts there who are just as knowledgeable and dedicated as James and I. I would recommend the title of your thread as: "Caught a fakerean virus..." and describe what the virus did and what steps you did to remove it.

And you can add us to your friends by clicking our names. On the right side, there is a Friends category where you can click Befriend <username>. I just befriended you. :)

The other computer completely died and I gave up. I got a new pc and it was built by origin pc and not expensive at all but sadly I got this bsod just as I was shutting it down.

Hopefully it's nothing big but my luck is it is. This motherboard doesn't seem to like hwm cpu-z etc Still nothing has been hot. Maybe that minidump file will give some answer.

When i got this pc I also did all the memory tests/stress tests all that was great. This stuff is really stressing me out. I can't seem to catch a break.

    System Specs and BSOD Instructions:
If you need help, please fill in your system specs in your profile and not in a post in this thread: System Info - See Your System Specs

Also, please follow the https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html to get specific troubleshooting steps.

    Analysis:
It is difficult to find patterns with only one .dmp file. Yours points to Lycosa.sys, which is your Razer Tarantula Keyboard Driver, as the problem. Update the driver from the manufacturer's support site: Razer Support
