    Let's see how it goes.

Oh, by the way, thank you for being so co-operative throughout this whole process. You've got on with the things I've asked and responded every step of the way. It's appreciated and makes my job so much easier. Thanks again. :)

It's not a problem! I really appreciate the effort and support! I'm actually in school for this kind of stuff now but don't feel like I've learned much about it, so it's like a learning lesson for me as well.

Here are the dump files. I'm installing the mouse drivers as soon as I post this reply. Maybe you could find something out with the new dump files, or maybe it's just the mouse. We'll find out I suppose!

Edit: Come to find out, there were no drivers/programs installed for this mouse already, so I suppose it was just using the default drivers. Could that have been the issue?

I'll look at those new dumps after school tomorrow. Time differences are annoying! :)

Report back after you've done the mouse updates. Good luck. Hopefully this should fix it, I've got my fingers crossed.

Mouse drivers are (installed lol, see previous post's edit) updated. Things are running smooth as normal, I guess I'll find out within the next couple of days if it's good or not!

Okay, I got another BSOD after about... 3hrs straight on Diablo 3. I was streaming some video in the background and talking on a VOIP. If you want me to, I'll upload those files as part of another reply. But first, a question:

The BSOD message said the driver dxgmms1.sys was at fault. After Googling it, it turns out to be an ATI driver. If I'm not mistaken, this is the second or third time a BSOD error has pointed to a GPU related issue. Is it possible that the card is faulty?

Anyway, let me know if you want that file as well. Just something I was pondering.

Ok, then. That driver - dxgmms1.sys - is a graphics driver but not a ATI one. It is a DirectX one - Driver Reference Table. That site has pretty much every driver on it, I use it for debugging. Anything marked in red is a system file and is very unlikely to be the cause of the BSOD's.

Can you work through the below for me:

Please run the sfc /scannow checker to check and repair important system files. Follow option two in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker. If it reports that Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations, tell me. If it attempts to repair files, attach the CBS.log file to your next post. It is located here C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

Then, follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX.

Then try to reinstall your graphics card drivers by following these steps.

    1. Download the drivers you want for your display card(s). Download the one without the Catalyst Control Center.
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Uninstall a program

    For AMD:

    • Uninstall AMD Catalyst Install Manager if it is listed (this should remove all AMD graphics software and drivers)
    • If AMD Catalyst Install Manager is not listed, use the following method to uninstall the graphics drivers (this applies to on-board graphics, as well):
      1. Click Start Menu
      2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
      3. Click Manage
      4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
      5. Expand Display adapters
      6. Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)

      • Right click the adapter
      • Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
      • Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

If this doesn’t work, try this method:

    1. Login as an administrative user
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Hardware and Sound
    5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
    6. Expand Display adapters

Once the drivers have been uninstalled, reboot your PC. Then install the driver you downloaded earlier once Windows starts. If there are issues, try another version of the driver.

That's the first thing I want you to do. Then, we'll do some more hardware tests.

Try running Furmark to stress test your GPU. STOP THE TEST IMMEDIATELY IF ARTEFACTS BEGIN TO APPEAR ON THE SCREEN OR THE TEMPERATURE LEVELS OUT OR EXCEEDS 90 DEGREES. If no artefacts or distortion appears on the screen, consider the test passed. If artefacts do appear, make sure the card is properly seated.
    Done that test before!

Then use the Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.

That should keep you busy! :) As per usual, feel free to ask questions.

Actually, after looking at my right-click menu on my desktop, I was reminded that my card is an Nvidia card. I still have the driver install file in my downloads folder from when I reinstalled them at the start of all of this, should I give that another go?

Also, nothing turned up in the file verification nor was anything amiss with the DX Diagnostics. I'll wait to run the memory test until you answer back about the Nvidia card.

    Here are the NVIDIA instructions:

    1. Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Uninstall a program

    For NVIDIA:

    • Uninstall the NVIDIA Graphics Driver (this should uninstall all NVIDIA software and drivers)
    • Restart your computer
    • Make sure NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver, NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player, NVIDIA HD Audio Driver, and NVIDIA PhysX System Software are not still listed under Uninstall a program through Control Panel
    • If any remain of the above, uninstall one at a time
    • If asked to restart after uninstalling any of the above, do so, and continue uninstalling any remaining NVIDIA items until all are removed

Once the drivers have been uninstalled, reboot your PC. Then install the driver you downloaded earlier once Windows starts. If there are issues, try another version of the driver.

I would also recommend you download the latest driver fresh from the website rather than the one you downloaded before. New drivers are released regularly and it's just good practice.

Once complete, run through the memory tests.

    Good luck :)

I reinstalled the driver and such per your request, everything is smooth as normal. Now, when I'm running the memory test, it asked me if I wanted to go into a smaller resolution (640x480).

Should I go ahead and allow it to do so? If I need this resolution to optimize the memory check, I'd rather just let it run over night while I'm not using the PC.
