    Disappeared HDD Icons

    Hey all ,
for first i used a lot of google and i have tried many methods to make back my hdd icons

    http://www.imageserve.info/img_store...3f983aeb87.jpg

    Type cd /d %userprofile%AppDataLocal
    Click OK
    Type attrib –h IconCache.db
    Click OK
    Type del IconCache.db
    Click OK
    Type start explorer
    Click OK.

    To change Drive icon:
1- Click Start > Click Run > type regedit to run Registry Editor
    2- Got to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / Drive Icons
3- Under the drive letter folder C: Click on the "Default Icon" folder
4- Right Click on the "(Default)" name then "Modify"
5- On "Value Data" change it to:
    C:WINDOWSsystem32shell32.dll,8

i alrdy tried advanced system care with icon/registry fix but nothing happened ,the hdds are still without the normal icons

any idea? except the best > reinstall windows ?

Open disk management (can be done from start menu search bar). Maximize the Window and take a screenshot. To do the screenshot press PrintScreen/PRTSC and paste image in Paint. Save to picture as a JPEG. Attach the image in your next post.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood what the problem was. Somehow I managed to completely over look the link in your first post. Try rebuilding the icon cache as described in the tutorial linked below.

I do not see where you mention doing the steps described in the tutorial. Are you sure your have done the exact steps mentioned. Never hurts to try again at any rate. You can also right click your C: drive, and click properties. Click disk cleanup. In the window that opens (it might take a minute) uncheck everything but thumbnails and click OK.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.
