Windows 7: Black screen while playing Diablo 3, no BSOD. Hard reset required.

Computer is about 11 months old.

Game worked fine for the beta and even for a week or two after launch. Randomly (not on a patch day), the game started crashing. Now it crashes after 2 or 3 minutes in the game almost every time.

I've followed all the regular troubleshooting steps (see Battle.net thread here).

At first I didn't see any error logs, but the Action Center came up today with a bunch of errors looking like this. I included the recommended error files, the dump files from the error in the above screenshot, and the perfmon report.



It's worth mentioning that I tried it also in my Windows 8 installation only to encounter the same problem. I'm hoping someone with more experience dissecting these logs can help me out.

It appears a recently installed AMD driver is causing a fault with the DX driver; However, a TDR can be caused by your video card overheating. Use a temperature monitoring utility such as HWinfo64 to check the system temperatures. If you are overclocking the card, STOP overclocking until the problem is located.

Forgot to mention: Report back on your system temps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been monitoring temperatures closely and haven't seen it go above 60C under heavy load.

I've tried Driver Sweeper to remove all drivers, and have tried several versions of ATI Catalyst (including 12.6 beta).

Load the drivers only and leave Catalyst out for the time being.

Any idea where to find the standalone driver? I'm only seeing Catalyst.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the choice could be made during the install.

Also check to see if there's a BIOS update for your motherboard. I see you are on version F1 but I can't get to the Gigobites website to check it.
