Stuck at "shutting down" after i press restart/shut down.

    Hi.
Just as the title suggests. After i press restart, it's stuck at "shutting down" for about 10 minutes (looks idle), and then there's a momentary BSOD and a restart. After it restarts, it gives me the option to start windows normally or in a safe mode.

My OS is W7 64 bit.
    Quad core 2.5GHZ
    Gforce 560 2GB
    4 GB RAM

    Thanks!

We need the .dmp files from a:\firefox downloads\

You should really have them set to save in the default location...

Your crash was inconclusive. It point to a driver issue causing problems when Windows tries to change power states (sleep/hibernate, wake up from sleep/hibernate, shut down, startup, etc.). The first thing to do is check 3rd party drivers that may be causing problems.

3rd Party Drivers (those in red are known to cause issues in Windows 7):

    • Older versions of ASACPI.SYS are a known BSOD problem on Windows 7. Update the driver by:
      1. Going to the Asus motherboard support site
        When you reach the website:
      2. Scroll down the page and click Utilities
      3. Hold Ctrl and press f (ctrl+f) to enter the browser's find feature
      4. Search for "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit" (without quotes)
      5. Download and install the driver.
      6. After installation is complete, verify that it installed correctly.
        • Click Start Menu
        • Click My Computer
        • Go to C:\WIndows\System32\drivers\
        • Verify that the ASACPI.SYS file is dated 2009 or newer (2010,etc.)

    • You should remove TuneUp Utilities. Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.

Hopefully TuneUp Utilities have not caused too much damage already. If they did, you would need to clean re-install Windows.

    • Please remove any CD/DVD virtualization software, such as Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%, as they use a driver called sptd.sys that is known to cause BSODs. Use add/remove programs to remove the software. After removing the software, use the sptd.sys uninstaller to remove sptd.sys from the system.

I prefer TotalMounter as my CD/DVD virtualization software as it allows me to burn images to a virtual CD/DVD if I just want an ISO file instead of a disc, and it is free.

Many use MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor as well, which is also free.
