    BSOD when attempting to sleep

Hello. I've had my new notebook for about a month now. I was thinking the problem may have to do with updates downloaded with the ASUS LiveUpdate program since this only became a problem yesterday.

I put my computer to sleep several times every day and this only started happening yesterday. Sometimes it takes a long period of time for it to sleep (5-10 min) and all the other times I get BSOD. I've only seen the screen once since I usually close the lid to sleep my computer so ive missed them. But it said something about a Power State Failure.

I've actually been trying to get it to crash again so I can post the error information to this thread but I have not been able to. Also, if it helps, I ran MSCONFIG-->Diagnostic Startup. When I slept my computer in this mode it still took an extended period of time to sleep but I've only tried it once.

Thank you for your help in advance. I will work on posting the Minidump logs if need be.

Edit: Following instructions in "BSOD Posting Instructions" Thread.

    Windows 7 64-bit

    Hello Lauzy.

    Easy one.

    Technisat digital satellite driver

Your dump included errors with this driver, which is likely related to some Web Radio or something around those lines.

It'd definitely get rid of it, especially if you don't use it.

    Return for further information,
    Best Regards,

Thank you! Could you tell me how to go about getting rid of it? It doesnt sound like anything I am going to ever use. I cannot find "Technisat Digital Satellite Driver" under Programs or Device Manager.

    Revo

The Revo Uninstaller cleans the left-over files also in most cases. You can download the 30 days trial for free. Uninstall Revo after use from the Control Panel after use if you so desire.

If it isn't listed we will do further debugging, to make sure we'll fix these problems you're experiencing. :)

    Best Regards,
    Frederik.

I downloaded the REVO installer but I still cannot find the device driver. May I ask how you determined that this Techisat Driver was the problem? If this driver is unlisted I'm not sure it was on my computer to begin with, but you would probably know more than me.

*EDIT: My REVO screenshot is attached. As you can see, Technisat is not listed there*

It's likely that you have hidden files on your system. To show the hidden files, we'll do a little trick.

    i) Control Panel
    ii) Search for Folder Options
iii) Press Show hidden files and folders

From there there's an option that tricks the hidden Folder and Files option. Afterwards you can go to your C:\ and look for folders related to this Technisat driver.

For the information, can you please go to the root, system32\drivers\pci.sys, and see if the pci.sys actually exists.

    PCI.SYS
    Code:
    0: kd> lmvm pci
    start end module name

I did what you said but I still cannot find that Technisat driver. Also, attached is a screenshot to show you that I found the pci.sys.

Also, I haven't been able to get the BSOD to occur again; it seems to be just fine now, which is strange. However I probably should not assume the problem has fixed itself. I will keep trying to find the Technisat driver but Ive been looking for awhile now and cannot find it.

Talking about hidden files you can't find, drivers acting weird, software you haven't downloaded- it all brings up the Malware topic.

I recommend a full scan with Malwarebytes, a very powerful tool we use. It can easily erase unwanted dll, drivers, and all that bad stuff.

    Malwarebytes

Uninstall Malwarebytes after your use if you so desire.

    Best Regards,
    Frederik.

    Proceed with FredeGail's instructions first.

    Code:
    FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: X64_0x9F_3_NETwNs64_IMAGE_pci.sys
Also, in your 9f crashes, NETwNs64.sys is shown to blame, which is the Intel Wireless driver. Yours are not that old, but may be corrupted. You may want to update them from ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download U46E

    1. Click Start Menu
    2. Right Click My Computer/Computer
    3. Click Manage
    4. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
    5. Expand Network adapters
    6. Right click the Intel wireless network device
    7. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    8. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device and hit OK
    9. Do not restart your computer
    10. Install the downloaded driver for the Intel wireless network device.

    Alternatively:
    1. Login as an adminstrative user.
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Click Control Panel
    4. Click Hardware and Sound
    5. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
    6. Expand Network adapters
    7. Right click the Intel wireless network device
    8. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    9. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device and hit OK
    10. Do not restart your computer
    11. Install the downloaded driver for the Intel wireless network device.

If the above does not work, try re-installing your Trend Micro software. Security software that is corrupted can cause network related crashes, as well. Your Trend Micro software drivers are from 2010, so you may have an older version of the software. That can also cause network related issues. Update to the 2012 software if you have not yet done so.

Uninstalling Trend Micro program using the Diagnostic Toolkit
