| Windows 7: BSOD using Komplete Audio 6 Soundcard with USB hub on Laptop |

BSOD using external USB Soundcard with Laptop I hope someone can help me solve my BSOD problem.
I bought a new Dell XPS laptop about 2 months ago (I have filled out the system specs info on my profile here). I bought the laptop predominantly to use for making music, and also bought an external soundcard - Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, which is a USB 2 device. The laptop has two USB 3 sockets and a USB/SATA socket as well. I had great difficulty getting the Komplete Audio 6 to work with the laptop, as I was unable to load the drivers using the USB 3 sockets (wouldn't recognise USB 2 for some reason). I eventually got it working by using the USB/SATA socket instead, which it is currently plugged into via a USB hub (along with my optical mouse). I was advised by other Komplete Audio 6 users to use a USB hub to avoid damaging the laptop. I also have a Yamaha midi keyboard plugged into one of the USB 2 sockets.
My problem is that I am getting regular Blue Screens, sometimes after a period of inactivity, though I cannot say 100% what triggers them.
I am running Microsoft Security Essentials, and Spyware Blaster as antivirus programs.
I've read the instructions on submitting BSOD files, and have attached mine here.
Any help would be massively appreciated.

The memory dumps blame the Native Insturments Kmplete Audio 6 drivers. This may or may not be the case tho'.
Let's start with updating/removing known problem software.
Marvin Bus (from Pinnacle Studios) dates from 2005 on your system. It's known to cause problems with Windows 7 systems - so please either update it, or uninstall the Pinnacle Suite.
Your PowerISO driver dates from 2007 and must either be updated or removed from your system.
You'll also have to ensure that your USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 drivers are the latest available from the USB controller manufacturer. I suspect these are both Intel devices, but can't be certain without a look at the detailed specs for your system (there's a lot of similar models). The link for Intel downloads is http://downloadcenter.intel.com

Thanks for your reply - very useful info.
I have today mentioned this issue to a friend, who also advised me to check the power management settings in the control panel - something that I had not done before. Most of the settings were set to conserve energy, and set at 'minimum values'. I have changed some of these so that when the laptop is plugged in it won't keep going into sleep or power saving modes. I've now had the laptop on for a few hours since adjusting these settings, and so far so good it hasn't blue screened.
If there is anything else that appears anomalous please let me know.
Many thanks once again. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS L502X OS Windows 7 Home Premium x64-based CPU Intel Core i7-2670QM @ 2.20GHz, 2201 Mhz, 4 Cores Memory 8 GB Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Sound Card Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 (via USB/SATA Input) Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor PSU Dell Power supply Hard Drives C: Local fixed disk 345 GB

I don't have much to do with power settings - but USB power settings are a part of the power management package. I wouldn't be surprised if that fixed your issues. Good luck! And, just FYI, there's nothing that really stands out as being "wrong" with your system. The most significant thing is the 2005 Marvin Bus driver from the Pinnacle Systems software.
If all of the above doesn't fix it, then you've gotta figure that the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 has issues - either hardware issues with the way that things are hooked up to your system - or software issues with other software (or even Windows).
I'd suggest that you run Driver Verifier to see if we can pin the blame on something. To do this, please follow the directions here: Driver Verifier Settings
If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there. The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs
