Windows 7: bsod playing ddo but don't think its game related

okay first of all thank u for u continued patience, i checked your recent posts and have seen how many others you are helping, and sorry i have been very jumpy lately and posting before even really taking the time to read your instructions. Its just that i have been fired up because i recently bought the expansion for $90 and i cant even see what its like. But okay so that being said, I have successfully run memtest86+ for 19 passes and 0 errors, and i get what you meant now you weren't talking about usb ports you were talking about testing ram sticks against the mobo slots to test them individually, (in a way i was hoping it was the ram sticks so i could just buy some new crucial updates and be down with it) but yeah zero errors . So is there a way it could be sound card related? as now i am starting to hear the "matrix" sound effect during youtube videos and it seems like it almost wants to bsod and then catches itself, especially when i resume a chrome session after a shutdown and i happened to have a few youtube videos opened at the same time and they all play at once. Just something to think about i guess, also after running MT86 my computer brought up the attached message going to run the update it recommends and keep my fingers crossed thanks again for your help and patience fred

Hello again Erasamus and thank you for your kind words,
it's most appreciated.

I have kind of good news, for the moment. I recently discovered that your BIOS version is outdated. As you're mentioning that your hardware, for instance, sound card - might cause the issues, the issues usually lies in the BIOS. Either because it's outdated, or because it's bad configured. In your case, it's from 2009, and by that we'd recommend to update the BIOS to the latest version.

As far as I'm concerned, Toshiba has provided utilities for such updates.

Time for an update?

Update it, and we'll continue our investigation.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

okay so i haven't even tried to open my client in some time as i am just downtrodden, so i just tried today figuring what the heck give it a shot, if i try to have the ddo client and a youtube video playing it makes the sound but not video choppy, but it i click out on to the video and minimize ddo it becomes clear again or until it bsod that is so im guessing this has got to have something to do with my audio in some manner, about to try with no browser open allthough i use to be able to have multiple tabs open and alt+enter in and out of game while listening to music play and also browsing the web for quest and gear info

Hello Erasamus.

Ubuntu
For a trial, try downloading a copy of Ubuntu and see if your system will crash.
By that, we'd have an idea if Windows 7's drivers and system is broken. You can try it out on a
flash drive if you so desire.
Go to Ubuntu.com | Download the image | See how to create a bootable flash drive
Leave it running for some time and report your results.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

Hello and welcome back.
  1. So you didn't unzip it, but it gave an error? Or are you just asking if it should give an error? As far as I'm concerned, you should place in the ISO you've downloaded.
  2. Basically, yes. Boot from the USB.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

no i didn't unzip it but when i went to repeat the process to get you a screenshot it seems to correct itself so i think i will be all right okay so do i just run it and see if my system will crash? how long should i let it run? it appears that Ubuntu is an OS should i try to open programs?

ty again for your help
eras

P.S i included the dl list not that you care to see it the top one that is highlighted is the Ubuntu dl i think it actually might be a .iso even though it has a zip icon the one right below it that the mouse is on is the Linux downloader
