I suspect a compatibility issue with that Yamaha receiver. Is there any way you can upgrade the firmware on it? Can you take your laptop to a friend who has a different receiver to see if you get BSODs?

Well, the file system is "robust" but bad is bad.
It'll most likely break a few files - but it depends on where they are located as to how it'll affect you.
They usually save the bad stuff in .chk files - so if there is data to be recovered it'll be there.
Ok. Well this entire thing is just about enough to royally piss me off. I've had problems with my y470 and now this y480...
Chkdsk completed leaving only 2gb of space on my 1tb hd. Samsung sold hd to Seagate and no longer provides support. I've ran the Seagate tool which said drive was healthy and am now trying to run iso disc. Computer has been at "starting bcdw..." for 10 minutes now...

I called Lenovo and they're sending me a new HD. Think that'd fix any of it?
Did I screw up by using Chkdsk on my samsung 1tb internal hd?
Will I be able to use old Acronis image after replacing HD or do you foresee any issue with that?

It's most likely that this is a hard drive problem.
As such, a new hard drive should fix it.
But, using the old Acronis image may/may not work.
I'd try installing it - but be prepared to do a clean install of Windows from your recovery media if it doesn't work.
If the clean install doesn't work, then that means (most likely) that there's another hardware problem - but let's not go there until we see how the new hard drive works.
As for chkdsk - you didn't cause any problems using it. It was the problem with the hard drive that caused it.

OK. Here's an unhappy update...
I received a new HD w/o restore CD, which was originally promised. I called Lenovo up and they said the model is too new, they couldn't send me a restore CD but will send me a generic boot CD. In the mail...
In the meantime, I decide to try my Acronis TI restore. The problem is that I just can't figure out the partitioning. I have 4 parts of my disk to restore and they don't restore evenly onto the two discs (Disk 0: 32GB SSD [really ~29GB]) and Disk 1: 1TB HD [really ~931GB]). To restore, I have an Acronis backup disc consisting of 200MB, 917.2GB(C), 24.41GB(D), and 19.53GB partition (and MBR). If I put the C back on the hd, that only leave me ~14gb but I have a ~24 and ~19gb partitions still. Of course, neither of them fit on the 14gb that's left (I can actually put either of them in there b/c they are only 11 and 13gb full respectively but I want it to mirror how it was when I got it.
Anyway...I'm waiting on recovery disc and may end up sending it back to depot under warranty. Co-worker recommended just a fresh windows install but I'd like my 32GB SSD to be properly utilized. Anyway... more to follow.
Final update.
Sent it back to depot for repair. Depot unable to correctly restore everything. Got the laptop back from them and One Key Repair no longer worked. Called and elevated my case and recently got a replacement machine.
I'm now able to hook it up to HDMI with no issues. I did update the Yamaha receiver firmware while waiting, though. So, not sure the root cause--perhaps the receiver.
Departing question, however. When I look at disk management, I see the following dialogue box. Should I now open a new thread for this?
