    No minidump created on BSOD

I've been getting regular BSODs on my HTPC.
After a full rebuild I'm still getting BSODs, however now I'm not getting the corresponding minidump. It doesn't appear to be created.

The path for the dump is C:\Windows, but there is never a dump file after a BSOD.

    Startup Recovery options
I have checked the Startup Recovery options and they're are as follows:
    - Write an event to the System Log
    - Write debugging information: Kernel dump
    - Dump file: %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP

I have just unchecked Automatically restart so I can physically see what the BSOD displays.

    Virtual Memory settings
My Virtual Memory settings were configured to automatically manage paging files.
I have just configured them for the C:\ drive to be:
    Custom sized Initial: 16280MB
    Custom sized Maximum: 16280MB

    System Specs
    Code:
    OS: Win7 Ult x64 (retail)
    M'board: Gigabyte EP45-UD3P (AHCI: Enabled) (BIOS: F10)
    Chipset: Intel 6, 5, 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets (current Driver: 9.1.2.1007)
    CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33GHz (default)
    RAM: 8192MB (4x 2048MB)
HDD (OS): OCZ Vertex2 SSD (current firmware v1.37) (TRIM: Enabled)
GPU: ATI Radeon HD5750 (older Driver: 8.951.0.0, used due to problems with HDMI output cutting out when TV is turned off with current driver)
TV Tuner: DigitalNow Quad DVB-T (current driver 64.1.909.2011)
NIC: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (current driver: 7.58.411.2012)
    PSU: Corsair HX650w

Age of system hardware? ~4 years for most components
Age of OS installation? less than one month
    [attached is perfom report]

Any thoughts on my next step? Thanks.

Edit: Just read "How to Configure Windows to Create a Dump File when you get a BSOD", but as I said earlier, I've already configured it and checked that it is configured to write dump files. It just isn't.

Go to the Control Panel, choose 'System',
    and then click 'System protection',
and then click the 'Advanced' tab and then inside the 'Startup And Recovery' frame, click the 'Settings' button.

In the opened 'Startup And Recovery' window, there is 'Write Debugging Information' section. You should set the combo-box in this section to 'Small memory dump', and then click 'ok' to confirm the change.

You can also make this MiniDump change in the Registry, by setting the following value:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl]
    "CrashDumpEnabled"=dword:00000003

However, be aware that this Registry change affects the system only after reboot.

I've made the change, however I'm sceptical this will make a difference.
So you're suggesting that the "Small memory dump" option will work, even though the "Kernel memory dump" option doesn't?
Why would the "Kernel memory dump" option not work anyway?

from my own experience and helping fellow collegues i advise this method if you are having trouble retrieving blue screen memory dumps. have you looked for errors in the event viewer for possible links to your problem?

Just to give you a headache (just kidding!), here's a brief DRAFT copy of my post on how memory dumps are generated. It may help you nail down the problem

    BSOD Crash Dump Generation

IMO brianzion's suggestion is the most likely to lead to a successful resolution.

    Good luck!

Well I haven't had a BSOD since making this change, this is very unusual. I'll update again when I have further info. Thanks for your help thus far.
