Windows Explorer has stopped working on Windows 7

    Hi,
I encountered this error yesterday whereby this error message-windows explorer has stopped working on Windows 7 followed by Windows is restarting.

This error is preventing me from accessing other applications on the desktop.

I have tried going into Safe Mode to use the System Restore Point but it doesn't help.

I have tried downloading the hotfix-2265716 from Windows. But I am not allowed to install it on Windows 7.

If you need help, please fill in your system specs in your profile and not in a post in this thread: System Info - See Your System Specs

Also, please follow the https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html even though you do not have a blue screen crash. The logs may help determine why you are having issues with Explorer.

The best I can do for you with the lack of information is:
Go through the steps for Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

       Warning
Some of the steps require that you open up your system, so before doing any of the re-seating and connection checking steps, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: Some steps in that tutorial involve removing the system case or system panels and can void your warranty!!!

The steps specifically related to the warning are steps 8, 10, and 11.

    mouse pointer possible solution

Hi, I kept getting "windows explorer has stopped working". Tried several suggestions. I ended up re installing windows 7 pro 64 bits. The problem showed up again. Then I read a post, donīt remember where `cause I searched the web for many days, that it might be caused by the mouse pointer... strange? I changed it from white (aero) to windows black, (system scheme). So far, 3 weeks have passed - no problem. Hope it helps.
