Windows 7 thinks it's out of hard disk space but there's 150GB left
Windows 7 is insisting it has run out of harddisk space, despite the fact that there is 137gb free. I can clear out further space, but it appears to have no effect on the problem. No programs can write to the disk (I only have one harddrive, C), nor can any file, however tiny, seem to be created. I can't use many programs, as most cannot run without creating small temporary files or folders when run. After ten, fifteen minutes of this, I get a blue screen of death. I am getting the 137gb information from My Computer and Disk Management, both say the same. The full capacity of the drive is 451.07gb.
I've attempted to do a system restore, but there are no restore points; perhaps I accidentally cleared them out when running a disc clean-up to attempt to solve the problem, so no luck via that route unfortunately. Furthermore, I've tried using the chkdsk function from the tools tab in the drive's properties. Asked if I wanted to schedule a check next time I turned on the computer. Said yes, turned off the computer and turned it on again. Nothing happened, the check wasn't scheduled. Might be doing something to do with the inability to write.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on, and what I can do to fix it? Thanks.
