HP laptop won't boot into Windows 7

I have an HP Pavilion (AMD Turion) dv6 running Windows 7 as an upgrade from Vista. Shut down to hibernate and then managed to pull mains lead out, no battery installed. Now will not boot up all I get is caps lock and num lock lights flashing plus black screen .

Have read other HP thread and tried booting with CD of partition wizard and also tries booting with repair CD but no joy

    Any ideas most welcome

    Thanks

    Garrisap,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

Do you have a battery for the laptop? Yes/No

Hi and thanks for the replies,

I don't think it's an ac power problem as the laptop switches on and the disk drive runs, plus the lights come on, power, caps lock, num lock

I do have the battery but it's old and doesn't hold a charge for very long so I have removed it.

One thing I forgot to mention was that it was running fine up until I pulled the power cord out after I had shut down into hibernate mode.

I'm thinking it's in some kind of loop to do with hibernate but I can't work out how to break it out. Tried pressing F8 and F11 last night but just keeps flashing caps lock and num lock lights

    Despite what you think:

    Reinstall the battery.
Let the battery reach full charge.

Now does the problem still exist? Yes/No.

Incidentally. leave the battery plugged in.

    Not looking good

Hi and thanks for the help so far.

I've found an HP site that tells what the beeps/blinking LED means and the flashing num lock and caps lock apparently mean the motherboard is faulty......

One repair shop quoted not worth doing as could cost £200 while another will have a pre inspection for £20 so I'm opting for that.

    I'll report how it goes
