I decided to start all over again and go through all the troubleshooting steps again to be sure that it is down to the CPU and found that the problem was actually the PSU. I feel a bit silly but glad that this 5 week ordeal is now over!
I had checked the system with the Enermax PSU when I was having a different problem but not with this latest problem.
Anyway here's a summary of my problems and solutions since building this computer for anyone looking for answers:
Problem 1 - Sound and video static/flickers
Solution - Ran dpclat while disabling and re-enabling each piece of hardware watching for drops in latency. Found it to be bad Marvel drivers
Problem 2 - 0x0000005 crash in games and other programs
Solution - Checked RAM one stick at a time as the problems did not show up in Memtest86+. Replaced RAM
Problem 3 - Noise on system sensors
Solution - Uninstalled ASUS sofware
Problem 4 - Black screen crashes forcing hard reset after gaming for 30-60mins
Solution - Checked system with another PSU. Replaced PSU.
In case you are interested, I replaced the PSU with a SilverStone SST-ST75F-P
The replacement motherboard I bought was the Maximus 4 Extreme-z (cheap deal - 15000yen) so I gave my P8Z68 Deluxe to my fiance, bought her an i3 2120 and gave her 2 sticks of my RAM (I don't think I really need 16GB)
Now, if I have any problems with either machine I have another with interchangeable parts!
Thanks for all your help.
