    Laptop freezes/shuts down during sleep

EDIT: the problem has returned and the previous solution doesn't work anymore. Uploading new .ZIP file in OP and last reply.

    ---
    Hello,

I have been searching the Internet a bit to find a solution to this issue. Mostly this has been linked to specific programs (like iTunes), which I don't have. Someone said it might be BSOD so I did the procedure.

Basically, my laptop doesn't go to Sleep, but instead freezes. This happens when closing the lid, pressing the "power" button or doing manual Sleep from Start menu. The screen goes black, but won't "wake up" anymore - the only way out is a forced shutdown and restart.
If the laptop is in this freezed state long enough it will shut itself down automatically.
The machine is 2 months old with pre-installed Windows.

    Welcome to SevenForums

Your problems were caused by the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5000 Series Adapter Driver
Update it using the Intel update utility or find a newer version from your laptop manufacturer's website
    Intel® Driver Update Utility

Revert back to an older version if the newer ones still cause BSODs

    Code:

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm still trying to properly install the drivers. Not sure what might be causing this, but the driver install never ends.

Okay, right as I was typing this, updating the driver software via Device Manager failed, giving me an error message.
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
    Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 130
This operation returned because the timeout period expired."

Edit: for clarification. The Driver Update Utility gave me similar results. Technically, it shows the latest 15.1.1 drivers are installed, but I doubt this is the case as I closed the install with Task Manager after it had been doing nothing for 15-20 minutes. Every time I clicked the icon on taskbar it prompted me with the "Will you allow changes to be made to your computer" window. Incidentally, Windows seems to be unable to shut down now (for restarting purposes), showing the "Shutting down..." screen indefinitely.
    It finally BSOD'd, reading DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

Instead of bumping, you may have tried providing your crash reports for yowanvista to analyze. https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

    You may try this:
Boot into Safe Mode with Networking, uninstall the driver, reboot and reinstall the driver.

The same problem has returned and the previous solution of reinstalling new drivers doesn't work. It's not my laptop, so I can't say what exactly happened, but supposedly something went wrong when trying to connect to a WiFi network.

    Uploading new reports (Seven Forums.zip)

System Health Report.ZIP is the old report archive.

The Network/WiFi driver is still to be blamed but a possible memory problem is also being pointed out.
Run Memtest86+ for at least 7 Passes. RAM - Test with Memtest86+

    Sorry for the delayed response.

Memtest didn't point out any memory errors.

Bumping with a little more information.

Basically, the laptop doesn't have any problems as long as it's not connected to the Internet. I'm assuming this is simply because the drivers aren't "at work" without an ongoing Internet connection. Not sure if this matters, but the laptop also has problems with sustaining a connection. Apparently, at some random points, the Internet connection just disappears - thought the router connection remains, it shows the yellow exclamation mark and says "no Internet access". This shouldn't be a router issue as another PC that is using a WiFi stick doesn't have this problem. And while the "no Internet access" persists, the laptop goes in and out of Sleep as normal.
