Multiple BSOD after installing ReadyNAS, please help!

    Hi,
I need help, I've been experiencing repeated BSOD after installing NetGear's ReadyNAS in a Raid configuration. Previously system has been running smoothly since built.

I believe the ReadyNAS is the culprit of my problems but don't know how to fix it, updating drivers did not help.

    My system:
Custom built a little over 1 year ago
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 OEM, installed over 1 year ago
ReadyNAS Ultra Plus 2, installed 12 days ago

    Thanks!

    Device Concerns:
    Code:
USB Mass Storage Device	USB\VID_04A9&PID_172D&MI_02\7&32F68E41&0&0002	This device cannot start.
Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows may resolve the above.

    Software Concerns:
    Code:
    Start Menu\Programs\SlimDrivers
We do not recommend automated driver update software. It often finds drivers for devices similar to but not exactly the same as the hardware actually on the system. This can lead to conflicts and blue screen crashes. If you need help finding driver updates for a certain device, please start a thread in Drivers - Windows 7 Forums instead of using software. Driver updates are not always necessary and some updates can actually decrease system stability rather than increase it, so it is usually better not to update unless a device or its driver is causing problems with the system. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    Analysis:
I wonder if two of your crashes are related to Eltima Software USB to Ethernet Connector Driver because it is out of date and the crashes indicate USB issues. Update the drivers for that device if possible. If not possible, contact the provider of the device for support.

The third crash was due to your Marvell RAID controller. Uninstall your Marvell drivers and re-install them after downloading a fresh copy from ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download Rampage III Extreme. You will find the Marvell Devices in Device Manager under Storage.
To fully re-install a driver, use the following steps.
    1. First, download the latest driver. Then do the next steps.
    2. Click Start Menu
    3. Right Click My Computer/Computer
    4. Click Manage
    5. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
    6. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
    7. Right click the device
    8. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    9. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
    10. Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.
    11. Install the latest driver for the device.

    Alternatively:
    1. Login as an adminstrative user.
    2. First, download the latest driver. Then do the next steps.
    3. Click Start Menu
    4. Click Control Panel
    5. Click Hardware and Sound
    6. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
    7. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
    8. Right click the device
    9. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
    10. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
    11. Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.
    12. Install the latest driver for the device.

    My Take on RAID:
RAID was originally intended for businesses running servers in mind. It was not intended for the home user. Why RAID is (usually) a Terrible Idea - Puget Custom Computers

    writhziden,

Thank you for your advice. I have updated the Marvel drivers and the usb driver. I took your advise and uninstalled the SlimDrivers (somewhere in a forum I read that it could help me solve the BSOD problem and now I wonder if it made it worse)

I appreciate you sharing your point of view and the link about RAID, it looks like I'm learning it the hard way.

All I have to do now is wait and see if any more BSODs happen (shouldn't take more than a day to find out). I'll let you know if it does.

    Thanks again!

You're welcome. Look forward to hearing back how the system is responding within a day (or hopefully more). :)

Over 36 hours later and running well without any BSOD, previously I had at least one every day for almost 2 weeks. I think this problem is solved.

    Thank you very much!
