BSOD Immediately upon Windows Startup 0x0000007E

    Hi everybody,
I read all the rules about posting crashes, but I have no dump files because the comp crashes almost immediately upon reaching the boot screen, and I don't know how to access them without windows explorer. So, I wrote down as much info as I could.

I've tried startup repair multiple times, and I've tried system restore, neither work.

Startup repair shows that all system tests are successful up to the System File Integrity Check and Repair, then it fails and gives:

    Error code 0x490
Unknown bugcheck: Bugcheck 7E. 0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, followed by 3 other random ones each time.)

    System Restore gives error 0x80070067

When startup repair fails, and the option to send data appears, the following problem info is shown.
    Event: StartupRepairOffline
    Signature1:6.1.7600.16385
    Signature2:6.1.7600.16385
    Signature3:unknown
    Signature4:21200211
    Signature5:AutoFailOver
    Signature6:6
    Signature7:0x7e
    OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
    Locale info: 1033

    System Specs: MSI GT780DX
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM
    Intel Core i7-2670QM
    Nvidia GTX 570M
    12GB DDR3 RAM
Right before the first BSOD, all I can remember doing is downloading a game from Steam, songs from iTunes, I updated Adobe Flash Player, and some new Windows updates were installed.

That's about all the specific info I could collect. Any sort of help would be appreciated.

    Startup Repair Loop Instructions:
You will need a Windows 7 repair disc or you can use the Advanced Boot Options to get to the System Recovery Options.

Then try the steps in Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery. Note the warning:

       Warning
The instructions presented withing this tutorial must be followed correctly, or you can damage your Windows 7 installation even further. This tutorial is designed to help recover from a bad registry that is causing the startup repair loop. You should note that there may still be some issues remaining that cannot be fixed by manually restoring the registry.

    Clear Temporary Memory Corruption:
After doing the steps for the startup repair loop, you may still find Windows unable to boot. This is often due to temporary memory corruption that can be cleared with the following steps:
    1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
    3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
    4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
    5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
    6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

Windows was able to boot after trying the Startup Repair Loop Recovery, but crashed again shortly after I logged in, with the same stop message (0x0000007E). Should I still try to clear the temp memory?

You never mentioned whether you could get into Safe Mode. Are you able to? If so, please refer to Windows 7 Blue Screen Of Death Loop, Cannot log onto my Primary Hard - Microsoft Answers.

If you are unable to get into Safe Mode, proceed through the steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot and report back what your results are after each step so we may provide additional troubleshooting steps if needed.
