BSOD started playing games now happens almost anytime (ntoskrnl.exe?)

First I got a sudden BSOD and reboot after a couple of hours of playing games. It looked strange as this PC is rather new and it had never happened with higher resourse demanding games.

After that first BSOD it started happening anytime when the PC was running, even not playing. It could be with 10 minutes or 6 hours of being functioning.

The program BlueScreenView says it may be related to ntoskrnl.exe, dxgmms1.sys or nvlddmkm.sys. I did the search for virus with Microsoft Essentials but found nothing. Didnดt get anything either with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

Hope someone around here can help me out ?

    Thanks.

Only one memory dump in the uploaded reports. If you're using a disk cleanup program, please stop while we're troubleshooting.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

Here's a link to a post on some troubleshooting steps for this sort of error: STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

The following info is just FYI, I've already addressed the issues that I saw in the above paragraphs

    - Info on how to troubleshoot BSOD's (DRAFT): http://www.carrona.org/userbsod.html

Ok usasma, a thousand thanks for your quick response and help !!!

I will now do the steps you suggest and test to see what happens. Anyway, it surpprises me that you mention Daemon Tools. I had just uninstalled it a while ago as I read some posts about the trouble it may be making.

I also did some unisntall, "driver sweep" and reinstall for my video drivers to see if it helps.

I will post soon after I test the machine today.

    Again, many many thanks !

    Do NOT use Driver Sweeper!

That program causes far more harm than good.

    To update a driver,
    1. run Windows Update
    2. go to the manufacturer's website to look for a newer update. Here I recommend first going to the website of the computer/motherboard manufacturer and only then going to the component manufacturer's website.

Remember the Golden Rule:; If it works, don't fix it!

In other words, just because a driver is newer doesn't mean it is better.

Don't forget that you also have to run the sptd.sys removal tool - as that's one of the things that causes the issues, and it doesn't always come off when you uninstall it.

well pals, it happened again after like 5 days of stability!

I was almost sure the problem was gone ! but it happened after many many hours for the system being functioning.

Usasma, I will go ater the DuplexSecure removal tool. Uploading new minidumps so if you could look at them...

    Thanks buddies.

perfmon /report shows problems with your video card.
Please reinstall the drivers, then start with the free video tests in this link: Additional Hardware Diagnostics
Also, follow the troubleshooting steps here: STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

SPTD.sys is still on your system. You must use the DuplexSecure removal tool.

If the above steps don't stop the BSOD's, please zip up and upload any new memory dumps with your next post - and we'll see what we can figure out from there.

Ok. I just finally removed sptd. What a hell it was !

I guess the link to DuplexSecure is broken somehow then it doesnดt take you to the files to download or the precise steps to do an effective removal. I am giving you this link that made it happen for me, so anyone that has the problem can use it:

Registry and SPTD problems | DAEMON Pro Help

I will be in touch soon with feedbck of the test runs.

Well now it really got weird.

It happens I did reinstall the video drivers, and with the latest ones also. Something else I did was to relocate one of the plugs of my monitor cable to a second slot of my card (it has 3) ...and voilแ! It somehow stopped throwing BSODs for a while. I mean, it gets a little more stable, though it still has the problem and shuts off every once in a while.

Could it be then that the other plug fried ?? It is not possible as I keep monitoring the temperatures of the system all the time, even much more when playing high card stress games. I keep them below 70 ฐC just to keep it safe. I use CoreTemp 1.0 (copyrighted for Alcpu and written by Arthur Liberman) ... I am now wondering if this really is a cheap temp monitor (?!).

Well now I am getting afraid thet the second plug would burn suddenly like the first did !

Could you help me around ? I am uploading new minidumps and PERFMON to see if something has changed.

    Win7 x64 + x86
       #10

These are video. I strongly suspect your video card - but also have to wonder about your monitor and cable.

BUT, the first step is to stop overclocking. If the BSOD's persist with the overclock removed, then see below.

If one plug is bad, the chances of the other(s) being bad is very great.
Now it's time to try another video card. If you have to purchase one, please purchase it from a place that allows returns (just-in-case you have to return it).

    Good luck!
